Huw Stephens is in for Greg

Nooo! Huw Stephens will be in for Greg James next Monday. I seriously have nothing against Huw but I just can't get into any of his daytime shows. I just feel he is more suited to night.

Why can't Radio 1 let another presenter have a go, putting it out there - Aled or Tom Deacon.

What do you think?

Greg James is off to Africa for Comic Relief. Read it here, r1newspost.wordpress.com.

I am not sure why it is always Huw. I really like Huw on Radio 1 his music is what Radio 1 should be about. I don't see any reason why it could not be Dev or Matt who could sit it on Greg or Scott shows.

Another question why is Greg off again he is always missing odd days?

I do like Huw, but I agree that he is more suited to the specialist night time shows than daytime. I'd also like to see more variety in cover presenters. Dev I think should definitely do some daytime cover. He's really good on Early Breakfast and it's a shame he hasn't been given a better slot yet. Maybe Phil & Alice should do some daytime cover. They've been sounding really good in the evening.

Well Radio 1 have lots of options but I think it is that Huw is a safe pair of hand and remember Radio 1 don't tend to cover with DJ that would lined up to take over the show. I can see Huw going in to 7-9 weekdays when Zane goses. I am not saying Zane will go soon but he is 40 and is part of the Chris, Scott and Sara group.

I can not stand Huw Stephens on daytime. He's really not suited for it. His features are naff at best - huw's hashtag? and his 'greeting' of hello you cheeky little parsnips sounds like it was taken from a book of cliché radio ideas. At the weekends another particuarly annoying tendency of his is to present something as 'new' when it has been played on radio 1 for weeks, or has been on the 10 - 12 show for months - like the 'indie record that's much cooler than mine' this week, which was palma violets, who had been on the radio 1 playlist for 3 weeks.

He genuinely irritates me when I hear him, to the extent that I prefer silence at work.
