The iPhone 5 - are you fussed?

I'm never fussed by a new phone coming out, especially iPhones. I'm still rocking a Nokia 6700s thats 2 years old, does everything I want it to but I fear that the next time it gets drowned it won't come back to life. Gonna be in trouble when that day comes, I've had a look around out of curiosity but there is nothing that fits what I want these days.

Never been overly fussed over anything Apple, I feel like for lower prices I can get something that does the same stuff at same quality, for the prices Apple charge, I want to be absolutely BLOWN AWAY, watching the keynote just to inform myself but I'm seeing nothing overly astoundingly new, not even in the iPod stuff...

It saddens me that one of the comments I'm seeing most is (actually about the iPod nanos) "Oooh pretty colours" because this of course makes them worth the extortionate prices for both device and the new raft of accessories you'll need due to the new connections making existing docks obselete etc.

actually it was to take out obsolete circuitry and improve internal space to allow for an improved battery in the iPhone 5. For the other product lines it's so they're only using one type of connector. With the old size it would of been impossible to get that battery in there whilst maintaining size and weight.

Cheeky of them to call the ONE included lightning-30Pin adapter 'free' considering the overinflated price of the phone... plus it's not all good news as there are still outputs lacking which need MOAR ACCESSORIES.

I've been waiting over a year for this. I've had crappy PAYG phones all my life and my iPod touch is three years old now, as well as cracked and broken. Now it's almost out, the cheapest deal I can find is £33 a month for 24 months, along with an extra £100 payment for the phone. *sigh*

OMASM. Radio presenters are like fruit. Matt is my kumquat and Scott is blatantly my orange.

Yeah but Viv you don't count because you're perpetually stuck in the late 70s...

even while she talks about being/wanting things to be 'noo and innovative'. Yeah... anyways, moving swiftly on.

BTW, I found this which proves that some people will quite literally buy (in both senses of the word, purchase or believe) the same crap over and over thinking it's somehow better.

I think they really missed the boat in terms of the lightning connector. The name means many people may just assume it's faster even though it is still using USB 2.0 when many new PCs and even Apple's own Macs are moving towards USB 3.0/Thunderbolt ports. I suppose it was more to try and make the phone thinner, but I'd rather have the new(er) USB 3.0 connection, especially since the current iPhone is not exactly cumbersome...

    • As positives go, at least Danny said what the last song played was and upcoming song played was. Plus I guess in that link are perhaps ideas for content (asking listeners to come up with bands from things around them, things that have happened to them this week). That's where's the positives end. It comes across as no thought has gone into what Danny will say next. It gives me proper flashbacks to some Jamie Laing links (especially that one show where he was unexpectedly solo). It's ironic that for all the duos and trios on the station - the one show and DJ that is positively crying out for another DJ to help show them the ropes is left all solo. At least with Jamie Laing they learnt their lesson and he's not been left solo since.
    • How he was just faded out at the end of the link reminded me of the Oscars music fading you out
    • RPReplay_Final1713612277.mp4   You’re welcome
    • At a time when Radio 1 has surely lost listeners to Capital at Breaktast you’d be trying to protect the station so people switch back.  Certainly yesterday I didn’t switch back to Radio 1 at all.
    • Was abysmal…Surely Danny can’t be a contender for anything permanent when the new schedules are locked in I.e Matt and Mollies slot
    • Alexandra Burke creating the phrase 'Elephant In The Room' whooooooooo
    • Zane Versus.... Whooooooooo. Do You Do Fridays? WhooOOOooo.
    • The Capital Breakfast show is right up my street so far - such a fun listen. You've both been great on Radio 1 and are sounding excellent again on Capital A few quickfire questions: You've both been part of some great pairings on radio and on podcast - what goes into making a duo or trio work and sound great on air? Also, Chris - were there ever any discussions about you moving over to Radio 2 with Scott or had the Global offer already come first? Also how do you both go about managing that split between your radio 'you' and the private 'you'? You share a lot on air but also there's some understandably some stuff you keep private (famously Jordan doesn't 'talk about those things'). And how do you make sure if you're having a miserable day or are a bit low that it doesn't come across too much on air?
    • What a nightmare link at 11.15am this morning. Spent 30 seconds waffling about the name of The Last Dinner Party as if he’d never heard it before, then started mentioning Capital and the license fee, and how it’s been used to pay for him to be there, and was then cut off by the start of the next song.
    • Have been reading this all week. She's such a brave woman. Just got to the chapter where she explains why she missed Scott's leaving event at Radio 1. She talks about leaving Radio 1 because her mum's health got worse, and wanting to quietly leave radio at 44 just how she first arrived on the airwaves at 18. Worth a read!
    • Frozen Indigo Angel... Whoooooooo?!!
    • Did it take a lot of tempting to go to Capital Jordan? Did you feel like you’d achieved everything you could at Radio 1 (other than breakfast)? Chris, how did your Capital move come about? Did Radio 1 want you to stay after Scott moved on?

    • I never expected to be enjoying a commercial radio Breakfast Show, but this is a good listen and less adverts than I might have expected.
    • It's got more of a Fri/ Sat feeling to it, for me. But there's nothing inherently wrong with the show.
