Quite proud of the deaf kids choir, performing "god save the queen". apparently, the only choir of this kind in the uk. will watch various events, as the mood takes me, especially swimming .

The Opening Ceremony was amazing last night!! Especially loved the Torch and Mr. Bean.

I was saddened though by the distinct lack of Doctor Who, one of the most loved things to have ever come out of Britain. Was also at 1st saddened by the lack of Sherlock but then I remembered Benedict did the opening VT for the games so that made up for it

Other than that I really enjoyed it. Apart from the fireworks. I dont like fireworks...

was it just me though or was anyone else getting slightly annoyed at how much the presenters before the ceremony started kept banging on about East London, not even London as a whole. Thought it was supposed to be about the whole country, not just were the main stadium is!

no one said anything about that section. That was childrens literature. Doctor who should have been in the Digital Age section as its one of the most watched and widely broadcasted TV this countries ever produced. Your argument is therefore invalid.

Why am I not surprised you like the Daleks? Probably the things in all of it most like you, and you probably want one of those Dalekanium shells to ride around in...

and on the NHS point... yeah, forced into it like we're forced to have TV, american logic on this fails so hard sometimes but I'm glad Obama wants a system more like the NHS but where you CAN STILL HAVE PRIVATE HEALTHCARE IF YOU WANT. It seems motivations against this system are largely selfish, so it's no surprise Camoron wants to destroy it. Obama takes America one way, Camoron takes us to something more like what America has, while Louise Mensch claims he has 'protected the NHS' :confused:.

Meh, not like sports broadcasters here don't do similar during National Anthems and other similar moments in sports from other countries... in the end, the coverage will be tailored to the individual markets, whether it be Europe, the US, the Middle or Far East...

Sterling work by Mr Boyle on last night's opening ceremony, loved every minute of it. Shame about today's road race though, I thought Cav would win for sure. I fear it'll be the first of many medal-related disappointments over the next 2 weeks, haha.

Another blunder from the NBS coverage on the Olympics. Apparently one commentator said about the tribute to Tim Berners Lee "If you haven't heard of him, we haven't either." To which his co-host replied (serisous) "Google him"

NBC's coverage was awful.. The co-host may have been joking though.. I'm sure they announced who he was though??

Many people would say that was typical, ignorant Americans but you can't realise generalise a whole population like that, especially one so large as America. But it does seem that Americans perhaps don't know as much about other cultures as, for example, people in Europe. Maybe it has something to do with America being so big.
