Clear hint there that Greg James will be the next man on breakfast. Wondering whether Ben Copper seriously is unable to find someone better, because Greg is alright, but never in a thousand years will be be able to handle a breakfast show. I find him rather boring.

Shame to see Scott being pulled away from drive. I assumed his ratings were rather good, so he doesn't really deserve being demoted. I sincerely hope that he finds a great opportunity for a career after Radio 1.

Personally, I won't bother tuning in to Radio 1 often. Radio 1 without Moyles, Whiley and Mills on daytime won't be my cup of tea, so good riddance, I think, puts it quite well.

It IS a slap in the face. I agree. i won't be able to listen to most of this. Ben cooper is a prick, imo. james is younger, and it fits in wiv radio one's yoof obsessions. Assholes. Just blast the station into space next.

tbh that's what Cooper is doing. Circumstances for Radio are getting more and more difficult by itself. Then there is Greg, who's just not up to it and will deliver a ratings disaster. I guess he and Cooper will be out by 2015 after having failed completely.

Another rubbish shake up. Don't agree with moving Scott, and why is Fearne still on!

Aw come on it's the biggest radio station in the world and after nearly 10 years he's still going to be in the afternoons! Pretty good going I'd say. It's going to be a new challenge for him and hopefully will allow him to branch out into new projects too.

First step, afternoons, second step weekends, then night time.

Greg is just rubbing it in now:

So...this is the best day ever. I can't wait. Thank you for all your messages. We're going to have a lot of fun loverrrrs

If Cooper wants to freshen things up a bit, get someone new for early breakfast, put Greg on weekends or somewhere and find someone new for 1-4 as well. What Cooper is doing makes some sense, but Greg James simply isn't the future of Radio 1, no matter how hard he tries and now matter how much Cooper believes he is.

I think Greg's original promotion from Early Morning was a good move but they should have just left it at that. He has not developed from there that much and he is not entertaining enough to replace Scott. Plus his features are quite poor. Scott's slot and Breakfast Show should be reserved for teams. Radio 1 are obsessed with changes - any change seems good change to them.

It will be interesting to hear the Dance Anthems but I think it should be on at 7 instead of replacing the Request Show.

do think the backlash against Greg James on twitter isn't fair and i suppose should be aimed at the bosses, the generation of Mills and Moyles will be hard to top or replicate without ruining radio 1's reputation and the bosses are so stretching them out to keep everyone happy until they find a suitable replacement for them both.

    • Just Vick and Katie on Wednesday (and presumably Thursday as well).
    • Unless people can provide a source for this information then it should be treated as false.   Why would Jordan sign a contract with the BBC in the autumn when he agreed a deal with Global?  He could have left in August and not had to deal with the BBC.  Vick who doesn't really like Global why would she recommend him to go there and then warn him in her post to be careful?   It's been whispered from October that Roman was thinking of going.  Roman and Jordan have the same management team.  Why would they put Jordan in a place where he would have to battle with the BBC.  They could have agreed a deal with Global for Jordan in the summer.  They might have had to pay first couple months but they would do they to secure him.  If they had known about Roman wanting to leave they could have paid Roman off to get Jordan on air quicker.  Global would also not had legal around BBC contract to deal with and would not have had to pay the BBC to release Jordan.  None of what people say makes sense and if it did happen the way people say then BBC are not the stupid ones.  It really is not a good look to be talking with Global for 6 months, to then sign a contract with a the BBC, continue to talk to Global behind BBC's back after signing and then couple of months later want to leave and to throw a hissy fit as the BBC are not giving you what you want when you want it. That not a good light for Jordan or his management.
    • Wow, surprised he signed a new contract in September but it says a lot about Jordan that he continued to a very high standard throughout last summer/autumn if this was all going on in the background.
    • They knew Roman wanted to leave early last year but wasn't officially announced but he gave them time to sort replacement. Found and offered Jordan a deal in June or July and needed time to get Jordan out of Contract at bbc and roman to do notice  Jordan had dinner with Katie Vick and Arielle to ask advice and all said he should go.
    • And they told Radio 4’s Feedback that it was an ‘experiment’ to ‘look at the best way to serve young listeners’ but reaffirmed that 280 hours commitment.
    • I doubt he wanted to go to Global if a slot before he found out kemp was leaving.
    • We're hoping to get some answers in the coming weeks
    • From what he's saying on the Pod he's been trying to get out of r1 for a while. Looks like he needed to wait for a show on global to be available. Jordan had bbq last summer with most of thr global execs and he's referenced the deal was in place then. Obviously the hold up was r1 being stubborn
    • All seems to be back to normal this morning.
    • Indeed and Jordan was already friends with Sian Welby, Will Manning and Jimmy Hill.
    • It's great to see those friendships still thriving. I think the days of Radio 1 DJs and Capital DJs being unable to co-exist is long over. You used to either be firmly BBC or commercial, and you don't get the sense that's the case anymore.
    • Maia Beth will be presenting the Radio 1 Happy shows from the 27th April replacing Katie.  https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m001ydkr
    • Vick and Jordan together on Insta (with Ariel’s) in Ibiza. You do imagine Jordan’s ex colleagues have a very different attitude to him than management. Comments on Help! And very subtle comments on Capital Breakfast suggest Jordan was frustrated with Radio 1 / BBC management.
    • I can name quite a few people on this forum who would be better presenters than Danny.
    • His NYE shows were very good. Only thing I would say is he was shackled down slightly there. During his peak he played some great trance stuff in the late 90s and early 00s. So if he were to do a regular show that would have to feature more. Aside from I'd love to see him back.
