Mills Going To Capital Radio !!

Yeah you do realise earlier today it said some cover presenter from The star in the north had got the gig, it's wikipedia for crying out loud! As for people talking about it on cm.net???? Someone on digital spy said ant n dec were getting capital bfast gig but that doesn't make it true. Capital won't go national until at least after 2012, contracts and that innmost stations sorted in September an are a year min, so they'd have to pay off 7 different bfast shows and drivetime presenters nearly a years worth of wages........won't happen.

well it would be a massive step down, there is no station bigger than radio 1 in the uk to be honest with it's coverage n' all. i don't think it's true but if he ever did leave there would be no reason for me to listen to radio 1 in the day.

on the grid.

After tweeting about mills, capital have unfollowed laura sayers now on twitter. what is that all about. like someone else said, best to wait until official announcement is made. i have now put a digital radio on my xmas wish list, so i can still listen to scott...

Have to wonder why the rival station were even following her at all to be honest?

Btw, if nothing else, at least um is busy again. every cloud, o every cloud, lets sing it loud, o every cloud...

I think they unfollowed her because she tweeted that Capital was rubbish..

she's right. we have capital birmingham here and it's dire, it's like they took anything what was good away from galaxy and called it capital/chavital/crapital/calpol.

The thing that got me this afternoon when i switched capital on for first time to get impressions was that it sounded exactly like radio one. In fact, if there hadn't been the capital fm announcements, i would have thought it was radio one. shows how much r1 has dumbed down over the years.

You follow rivals on twitter, so you can watch what they are saying and doing.... of course people will follow laura. i follow about 500 peeps i cannot even stand, as well as keeping an eye on other accounts.

Meh maybe I'm doing it wrong but if people really annoy, I don't wanna read their BS in my timeline. I suspect I have people following me for those reasons though, despite me regularly advising that they don't have to follow etc. But then, I'm not there for numbers alone or anything.

As stated before: The Capital Brand is available nationwide now, and all it's sister stations will merge into one come January, the first commercial station to do so I believe. (so far only their chart show is broadcast nationwide...

so, indeed, the Capital "gig" is gonna be a big one to get !!

From celebritain's website: apparently Dave Berry and Mills are BOTH in negotiations to get the job, with an announcement expected IN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS.

Let's not forget that all important thing!! Money!! And moving to Capital would mean Mills would be paid more !!

Continue to watch this space.... !! :-0 - Mills, meanwhile, continues to remain silent on Twitter.

    • Just Vick and Katie on Wednesday (and presumably Thursday as well).
    • Unless people can provide a source for this information then it should be treated as false.   Why would Jordan sign a contract with the BBC in the autumn when he agreed a deal with Global?  He could have left in August and not had to deal with the BBC.  Vick who doesn't really like Global why would she recommend him to go there and then warn him in her post to be careful?   It's been whispered from October that Roman was thinking of going.  Roman and Jordan have the same management team.  Why would they put Jordan in a place where he would have to battle with the BBC.  They could have agreed a deal with Global for Jordan in the summer.  They might have had to pay first couple months but they would do they to secure him.  If they had known about Roman wanting to leave they could have paid Roman off to get Jordan on air quicker.  Global would also not had legal around BBC contract to deal with and would not have had to pay the BBC to release Jordan.  None of what people say makes sense and if it did happen the way people say then BBC are not the stupid ones.  It really is not a good look to be talking with Global for 6 months, to then sign a contract with a the BBC, continue to talk to Global behind BBC's back after signing and then couple of months later want to leave and to throw a hissy fit as the BBC are not giving you what you want when you want it. That not a good light for Jordan or his management.
    • Wow, surprised he signed a new contract in September but it says a lot about Jordan that he continued to a very high standard throughout last summer/autumn if this was all going on in the background.
    • They knew Roman wanted to leave early last year but wasn't officially announced but he gave them time to sort replacement. Found and offered Jordan a deal in June or July and needed time to get Jordan out of Contract at bbc and roman to do notice  Jordan had dinner with Katie Vick and Arielle to ask advice and all said he should go.
    • And they told Radio 4’s Feedback that it was an ‘experiment’ to ‘look at the best way to serve young listeners’ but reaffirmed that 280 hours commitment.
    • I doubt he wanted to go to Global if a slot before he found out kemp was leaving.
    • We're hoping to get some answers in the coming weeks
    • From what he's saying on the Pod he's been trying to get out of r1 for a while. Looks like he needed to wait for a show on global to be available. Jordan had bbq last summer with most of thr global execs and he's referenced the deal was in place then. Obviously the hold up was r1 being stubborn
    • All seems to be back to normal this morning.
    • Indeed and Jordan was already friends with Sian Welby, Will Manning and Jimmy Hill.
    • It's great to see those friendships still thriving. I think the days of Radio 1 DJs and Capital DJs being unable to co-exist is long over. You used to either be firmly BBC or commercial, and you don't get the sense that's the case anymore.
    • Maia Beth will be presenting the Radio 1 Happy shows from the 27th April replacing Katie.  https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m001ydkr
    • Vick and Jordan together on Insta (with Ariel’s) in Ibiza. You do imagine Jordan’s ex colleagues have a very different attitude to him than management. Comments on Help! And very subtle comments on Capital Breakfast suggest Jordan was frustrated with Radio 1 / BBC management.
    • I can name quite a few people on this forum who would be better presenters than Danny.
    • His NYE shows were very good. Only thing I would say is he was shackled down slightly there. During his peak he played some great trance stuff in the late 90s and early 00s. So if he were to do a regular show that would have to feature more. Aside from I'd love to see him back.
