What it feels like to be on Google+

Orange phone and Android phone can be the same thing though as they are different aspects of the phone.

Android is the Operating System that runs things on the phone aside from Texts/Phone calls (alternatives are things like iOS that you get on iPhones, Blackberry's system etc), Orange is just your Network (with alternatives like Vodafone, Three, O2 etc) who handle the signal for you through their satellites and towers etc.

Also heard some stats on a webcast last night about Bacefook. Can't recall the exact figures but out of all the people who are signed up to it, the number who actually use it on a regular basis is apparently dropping and is already actually quite low. I have noticed that most of their latest updates are stolen fr- I mean 'Inspired by' things in Google+ and Twitter.

Soz. Insufficient brain power for this. u know, my cousin and i were discussing how much TIME technology takes up. I mean, yesterday i spent two hours doing stuff.... It has become an obligation almost. i mean, how did we survive in the days before the internet, yet somehow we did. u know, i was reading the other day that many younger people are just as insulated as the elderly because of the time spent online. Sad.

I got an invitation off a friend some days ago. It's still unused in my inbox. I won't joing Google+ because I don't need/want it. It's just another social network and I've already enough to keep up to date with on Twitter and FB. Google wants to join the social media market and I never liked companies trying to influence people by getting friends to do the "marketing".

I have also stuck with Hotmail but only because I'm too lazy to delete it. I don't use it for emails and I'm never online with the messenger. I've also got fb for about 3 years now I think but it's gone all rubbish. Twitter has hooked me only a year ago and even if it is sometimes a bit impersonal, I quite like it, as it is simple to use and easy to find stuff when you're looking for something.

The trouble with Facebook is that even if you leave your data still exists on their servers. That said, it's the same on a lot of other sites. I think the best mentality to have with posting things online is that if you don't want a friend, your family or a potential employer to find it a few years or months down the line don't post it at all. Once something's online it's incredibly difficult or even impossible to get something pulled down unless you get the law involved.

Exactly. The best way is "always think twice before posting anything". I also have more than one email address because I don't want to mix up Facebook/Twitter with school/work stuff.

.....I'm not saying I'm not writing about school on Facebook! It's just that I don't want teachers or future employers to find my profile easily (they'll find it anyway, but as I'm not always nice, I can make it a bit difficult for them... :D).

I have still to learn that "think twice before posting rule ".... it is a good one though. I have just had harveys the furniture store come after me on twitter over some remark i made about their adverts... That is the thing, u never know where something might show up online...

Right, Newsbeat are gonna be discussing online stuff today... If you have ever been bullied online, then please text NEWS to 81199 and your message.

Please also check out Cher Lloyd's stuff on the radio 1 Site, whose mother was threatened with violence !! www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/newsbeat/ - should, as she says, the Government become involved in making new rules??

Twitter, from my own experiences of reporting stuff, do not tend to do anything !! That's the thing, they are saying they investigate, but they are not the police. Which kind of begs the question: why are the investigating @ all if they cannot actually DO anything?!?! I've texted Newsbeat about that.

Also, Moyles and Aled were discussing stuff being posting online. Broadcast time = 0740 hours. Aled was saying he has seen people post stuff they have been doing illegally onto Twitter.

Moyles was jokingly saying all comments should be complimentary to the Chris Moyles' show.... thing is, why should you coat everything in sugar as well....

It's a fine line really, I think. I think we have all crossed it as some point, but, really, where should the line be, because being nice all the time is just false feedback. If we all, just as an example, came on here and said we love everything broadcast, every radio feature, every habit a DJ had, it would just become ridiculous. Surely?!

Chrismoyles.net have basically called the "Teen Awards" stuff a pile of shite, which I actually agree with, but in today's net-nanny World, someone will probably try to stop even that.

Yes/No?? Undecided?

I don't like the Teen Awards feature they've been running. This morning I just skipped it. It's boring. I wish management would make the show more about entertainment (which is why people even listen in the first place) instead of a platform for pushing corporate crap and plugging things.

Now constructive feedback is all good, letting you know what was done wrong/wasn't good is what you need to improve. But people just 'flaming' for the sake of spewing hatred isn't any good at all.

I don't agree with people bullying, if you don't like someone/something how about you don't listen to them?! Novel idea I know!

    • Jesus christ, Olivia Rodrigo was around 3 years ago!?! I thought she was only born in 2019. Anyway. They are doing it to rival commercial networks, on the main 2 lists anyway with rotating them more. Which all in all is a pit of misery. I'm sick to bloody death of Stick Season, it's an utter bag of mediocre wank that makes me even prefer James Blunt circa 2005. Radio 1 still is more expansive however, loved stuff they play and make their own early days, like Jungle Back on 74 like last year.  They can't lose doing stuff that, or else they become bland like everyone else. They have done that for many years though. I heard a song on a March 2001 aircheck from Chris Moyles recently and rediscovered a song by Kings Of Convenience, called Toxic Girl. Totally lost over 25 years but totally love it like it's new. Radio 1 has always played the big time pop stuff since your nan was 3. But they always have and still do throw something on the playlists that isn't what everyone else has. I hope they continue to do that as it sets them apart.
    • I think they are looking too much into this and need to get a proper job where you have to get up at 5am.
    • Zayn's current song isn't on the R1 playlist so would be odd for him to do an interview I guess, not sure either would want it?
    • You have both presented together before your show on Capital. Have you spent time together as friends since, or is the reunion like getting to know one another all over again?   I’m a long time listener in my mid 30s and now outside the R1 target audience age… Chris is into barbecuing and Jordan is into air frying, have you both noticed a change in the other since the days of R1? And are you under any pressure to be on trend at Capital?
    • What do you both miss most about your time at R1?
    • How are you finding the early mornings, and having your afternoons free? Was it easy getting to grips with a different desk and play out system? Do you have any upcoming OBs and anything else exciting planned for the show that you can exclusively share with Unofficialmills? 😀
    • This research is based on the DJs’ voices - pitches, speech rates and fillers like ums and ahs they use - so it’s not affected by sound effects. But yes according to the report Scott is listed as a Radio 2 DJ instead of Radio 1.
    • The playlist has definitely got a bit narrower this year, it feels like. Artists like Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, Drake and  Doja Cat seem to be played in every show, even when they’re not on the playlist. Other artists who get a few plays a week, such as Niall Horan, always seem to have the same song played, in his case, Heaven. Whenever they dive into Calvin Harris’ backlog it always seems to be Slide and Promises pulled out, even though they’re two of his least upbeat songs. Most songs they play seem to have been from the 2020s, instead of throwing in a few older hits like Capital does, which is something I think they could do.
    • Jamie Laing out of the schedule for Going Home today - Lauren Layfield in with Katie Thistleton.
    • Bit of a scoop getting an exclusive interview with Zayn, I wonder why he decided not to do Radio 1 too?
    • Who are your favourite artists that are not anywhere close to being on the playlist?   Are there ever songs that make you want to start pulling your hair out (in general, no need to put anyone on blast lol)?
    • Hi to both, miss you loads on radio 1 and hope that you’re doing good at capital 🙏   What was the background to your exits from Radio 1? Do you have any regrets from how it ended?    This one’s more to Jordan, but do you enjoy TV presenting more than radio? What are your targets in TV?
    • I do think if you distracted by talking you wouldn’t put a podcast on in the car. To me unless you used to driving so often that you don’t get distracted and drive for long distances it feels suited to podcasts. I find it odd including Ryan Seacrest or Howard Stern as I don’t know who listens to them in the U.K. Can imagine Chris Evans distracting and annoying on radio in general same for Chris Moyles. I can imagine Scott as not too distracting maybe even in his radio 1 days although if I was a driver I could find Innuendo Bingo or Funny Business distracting based on the humour of the features but Scott’s got a very soft gentle tone of voice doesn’t come across as loud or in your face. I think when you are on in the working day where people maybe listening as said in car, in the office or tradespeople on a job listening to the radio theres a certain style needed
    • Yes, good on you doing your own music blog website. I get that point with the 100% all new music can be alienating but think thats more if the station were to do more totally new bands and artists the thing that new music shows that preceded Jack have always have reflected big artists national and international who have been around for a while be that few years to a decade or two whether playing new stuff from artists to Dua Lipa, Coldplay or Nia Archives. I find its bizarre how music curation has changed a lot in the last decade as what I like of what radio can do well is that ability to hear an audible description of a new artist and information about their music with sense of opinion and thought from the presenter and an interview with the switch to sound features and spotify playlists. It’s not that same magazine effect that Steve Lamarq and Jo Whiley could be an audible magazine show like the NME to Zane Lowe’s radio 1 show complimenting Gonzo which Saunders has revived for MTV
    • I would argue against that, I once drove my car into a post listening to Scott Mills.  But it was back in the day, he was doing Stupid Street with Chappers at the time!
