250 MB On A Phone !!

Viv

Recommended Posts

Morning,

Does anybody know how much 250 MB is actually worth (cash)... this is what I get for Internet access from my new phone per month.

Help.

Also: for a trial period, I am supposed to be able to receive Hotmail. At the start I did so. Then I went along the coast to another town. A sign flashed up basically indicating I was elsewhere, and would I like to reconnect - I did so.... However, when I got back to my own town, it seems I have now lost all the ability to connect to Hotmail?????

Why??

Edit: Twitter people are telling me that this is equivalent to 12 hours of surfing?? Hmmm... not a lot really, eh.

250MB a month? If you use your phone a lot that's not very much at all. It goes KB, MB, and then GB in order of data size (or at least I think so). As to what's it worth I have no idea, it's not much in terms of data so I wouldn't think it would be that expensive...

Mmmm. Wonder if this is why my hotmail has been taken away.... I got it on a 14 day trial, but have been accessing it a lot.

I am still fizzing because there was a link Jono posted on twitter, I attempted to download it (it was about the labour party) - it would NOT download, and it cost me £2.00 !!!!!!!! (for like, about, 10 seconds)

*mad*

I don't think I have sufficient brain power for all this..... one thing I won't be doing is randomly downloading stuff off of twitter in the future.

At least I get 300 free texts per month now, so even if I go over the score on twitter, I can use all these to tweet.

Even though the hotmail was just on trial, I was in at it over and over... must be why Orange actually took it away altogether.

Orange are charging £5.00 per month for 250MB hotmail, and £10.00 for 250MB twitter and facebook - PAYG (didn't want a contract) - I think I may have been 'done' *

what phone do you have Viv ?

i have a P&G Orange SanFrancisco (Android) when i put on £10 i get 300 free texts plus free internet 100MB a month, the 100MB lasts me just over three weeks, as i only use it for twitter & about 10 mins web browsing a day, i don't use it for calls very much at all, so i get about five weeks from £10, when i want to download apps onto it i just use the Wi-Fi connection so i don't get charged for data.

whats the Hotmail charges for ? just access them via the internet on your phone.

I've got an Orange Rio now... The free internet doesn't kick in until the start of next month.... I never thought of just accessing via internet on phone to hotmail.

My phone says you have to pay £5.00 for the extras - mind you, it may mean once you have used up all the allowance.

Edit: In fact, it isn't... because my hotmail was on trial for 14 days, or at least it was supposed to be, then was removed after two days. Mind you, I think I may be responsible for this. I think I may have connected myself up to another region, whilst living in this region !! I'm going to Orange shop tomorrow to ask for some help.

I went to Orange, Alan, who say that the Hotmail problem is hotmail's fault, and not Orange's... they say to contact hotmail, but I have been into my hotmail account, and there isn't a way to contact at all. So I will just have to go via the orange browser.....

I went back into the shop today, and my phone collapsed, because my battery is so low... so brilliant, I wound up not been shown anything!!

    • There was a time when everyone knew Zane Lowe or Annie Mac or Judge Jules or Dave Pearce or Annie Nightingale. Does the Radio 1 generation know the current bunch?
    • Looks like it's off to Preston!
    • Would be nice to give more presence to the specialist shows over bank holidays. Surely the best way to promote new music credentials over anthems? As much as I accept it's very popular.
    • Peak radio 1 ! I agree with Bluestraw there was huge presence by specialist presenters then , certainly something I think radio1 could do more of now. Remember the takeover where specialist DJs would swap into main shows for a week? Or do we recall In New DJs We Trust, the competition on Chris moyles show where the winner would get a DJ set at radio 1s Ibiza weekend, and that is how Danny Howard’s radio career starters
    • Yeah. He started on R1 in the late 90's when they used do the 'Sessions in the Nations' where they used to split for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. He then moved to daytimes, firstly on weekends in 2003 then they replaced Mark & Lard on the mid afternoon slot in 2004.  Then he moved to late evenings as a specialist DJ.
    • Thanks for sharing that - I don't think I've seen it before. Didn't realise that Colin Murray off of Countdown and R5L used to be on R1! Several other current R2/R5L/R6M names there too.
    • 29th April has updated to show Dan back as presenter but still Nels in for Alyx on Introducing Rock.
    • Where do we think Radio 2 in the Park will be this year? Personally I'm thinking Swindon after Scott's clue of it having many roundabouts and since Big Weekend is at Luton I can't imagine they'd go to Milton Keynes.
    • Yeah, I feel like they need a big push on Jack to cement him in his new position. But it shouldn't just be Jack, you've got Sian and Alyx for instance, who are relatively new faces.
    • Now in it's third week, the new Capital Breakfast Show seems to be settling down well and there are more of the informal, random Jordan topics appearing.  Though it is clear he wants to be seen slightly differently. It really is a very decent listen.
    • Just watched that advert and it made me realise quite how many 'big' specialist presenters there were back then
    • I've been reminded of this Radio 1 cinema advert. I remember being so excited to see it. The In New Music We Trust era. Everything felt so cool, even if they had Westwood.
    • Just Vick and Katie on Wednesday (and presumably Thursday as well).
    • Unless people can provide a source for this information then it should be treated as false.   Why would Jordan sign a contract with the BBC in the autumn when he agreed a deal with Global?  He could have left in August and not had to deal with the BBC.  Vick who doesn't really like Global why would she recommend him to go there and then warn him in her post to be careful?   It's been whispered from October that Roman was thinking of going.  Roman and Jordan have the same management team.  Why would they put Jordan in a place where he would have to battle with the BBC.  They could have agreed a deal with Global for Jordan in the summer.  They might have had to pay first couple months but they would do they to secure him.  If they had known about Roman wanting to leave they could have paid Roman off to get Jordan on air quicker.  Global would also not had legal around BBC contract to deal with and would not have had to pay the BBC to release Jordan.  None of what people say makes sense and if it did happen the way people say then BBC are not the stupid ones.  It really is not a good look to be talking with Global for 6 months, to then sign a contract with a the BBC, continue to talk to Global behind BBC's back after signing and then couple of months later want to leave and to throw a hissy fit as the BBC are not giving you what you want when you want it. That not a good light for Jordan or his management.
    • Wow, surprised he signed a new contract in September but it says a lot about Jordan that he continued to a very high standard throughout last summer/autumn if this was all going on in the background.
