Well as the title says, what are you doing on the 29th?

Ima seeing to the horse, then there's a street party starting at 12pm with a BBQ and booze :D We are hiring a big screen to watch the wedding, Dad will drive me back to see to the horse and then back home for more booze :drunk:

My flatmates have ordered me to take part in their royal wedding drinking game and we've also planned a Domino's pizza fest. If the weather's nice we'll also probably play football or frisbee in the park and have a prawn-sandwich picnic while waving union jack flags and wearing our 'official' Wills + Kate merchandise t-shirts.

Well, I can pretty much guarantee that the one thing I definitely WON'T be doing is watching the wedding...

I will however be going to a Rocky Horror fancy dress party that a friend of a friend is hosting in the evening, think it's meant as a sort of 'alternative' way of celebrating the wedding. I only hope my Magenta costume arrives in the post on time... fecking bank holidays.

So save the last dance

I think I'm going to a library to watch it because there's free food and more free food afterwards. I'm trying not to though, because libraries scare me and I used to volunteer there but it bored me so I got my DofE thing signed by someone else after only 5 months (I lied about the date…) and I don't want to run in the person who was actually monitoring me.

OMASM. Radio presenters are like fruit. Matt is my kumquat and Scott is blatantly my orange.

I might watch some back to back episodes of Only Fools and Horses, or spend time with family, or play with my new doggy, or eat an Ice Cream depending on the weather. Quite frankly avoiding the aforementioned bollocks like the plague.

In tribute to John Sullivan, its writer, who died today at only 65? Very sad. He brought so much laughter to the world.

I'll probably have the wedding on the telly in the background, but wont be watching it too avidly. Timsk has to go to work. :(

Might follow John's example.

Our library is open and having a cake fest. I will attend the cake fest, then try to avoid the royal pish by going running.

this is really starting to fuck me off now. nothing against or to do with will and kate, but this wedding seems to be more of an american interest. and another excuse to make the british look to the world like stereotypical tea drinking, hat wearing fools who go to bed no later than 9pm, and all talk really posh like the queen. if they could see the real country for what it is then the americans would realise that things really aren't that different from them. all this royal wedding is causing is making the stereotype of british people across the world even worse.

on the grid.

    • Radio 1 generation meaning??  Today's 10-30 yr-olds? I doubt it. They'll still know Pete Tong though, because he is rhyming slang!
    • There was a time when everyone knew Zane Lowe or Annie Mac or Judge Jules or Dave Pearce or Annie Nightingale. Does the Radio 1 generation know the current bunch?
    • Looks like it's off to Preston!
    • Would be nice to give more presence to the specialist shows over bank holidays. Surely the best way to promote new music credentials over anthems? As much as I accept it's very popular.
    • Peak radio 1 ! I agree with Bluestraw there was huge presence by specialist presenters then , certainly something I think radio1 could do more of now. Remember the takeover where specialist DJs would swap into main shows for a week? Or do we recall In New DJs We Trust, the competition on Chris moyles show where the winner would get a DJ set at radio 1s Ibiza weekend, and that is how Danny Howard’s radio career starters
    • Yeah. He started on R1 in the late 90's when they used do the 'Sessions in the Nations' where they used to split for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. He then moved to daytimes, firstly on weekends in 2003 then they replaced Mark & Lard on the mid afternoon slot in 2004.  Then he moved to late evenings as a specialist DJ.
    • Thanks for sharing that - I don't think I've seen it before. Didn't realise that Colin Murray off of Countdown and R5L used to be on R1! Several other current R2/R5L/R6M names there too.
    • 29th April has updated to show Dan back as presenter but still Nels in for Alyx on Introducing Rock. 6th May schedule has updated to show that the Radio 1 Big Weekend Shows will now be the following: 6am-10am 10am-2pm 2pm-6pm 6pm-8pm Still no presenters listed.
    • Where do we think Radio 2 in the Park will be this year? Personally I'm thinking Swindon after Scott's clue of it having many roundabouts and since Big Weekend is at Luton I can't imagine they'd go to Milton Keynes.
    • Yeah, I feel like they need a big push on Jack to cement him in his new position. But it shouldn't just be Jack, you've got Sian and Alyx for instance, who are relatively new faces.
    • Now in it's third week, the new Capital Breakfast Show seems to be settling down well and there are more of the informal, random Jordan topics appearing.  Though it is clear he wants to be seen slightly differently. It really is a very decent listen.
    • Just watched that advert and it made me realise quite how many 'big' specialist presenters there were back then
    • I've been reminded of this Radio 1 cinema advert. I remember being so excited to see it. The In New Music We Trust era. Everything felt so cool, even if they had Westwood.
    • Just Vick and Katie on Wednesday (and presumably Thursday as well).
    • Unless people can provide a source for this information then it should be treated as false.   Why would Jordan sign a contract with the BBC in the autumn when he agreed a deal with Global?  He could have left in August and not had to deal with the BBC.  Vick who doesn't really like Global why would she recommend him to go there and then warn him in her post to be careful?   It's been whispered from October that Roman was thinking of going.  Roman and Jordan have the same management team.  Why would they put Jordan in a place where he would have to battle with the BBC.  They could have agreed a deal with Global for Jordan in the summer.  They might have had to pay first couple months but they would do they to secure him.  If they had known about Roman wanting to leave they could have paid Roman off to get Jordan on air quicker.  Global would also not had legal around BBC contract to deal with and would not have had to pay the BBC to release Jordan.  None of what people say makes sense and if it did happen the way people say then BBC are not the stupid ones.  It really is not a good look to be talking with Global for 6 months, to then sign a contract with a the BBC, continue to talk to Global behind BBC's back after signing and then couple of months later want to leave and to throw a hissy fit as the BBC are not giving you what you want when you want it. That not a good light for Jordan or his management.
