Everyones Favorite Song?

I agree DC an amazing song. It is really hard I love too many songs :)

yeah, as i said before it's difficult to name just one. it really depends what you feel you want to listen to at a particular time as well.

you have to be in a certain mood to listen to this i guess:-

<iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/o_gCiODi9lk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

but i always liked kosheen in the early 2000's. even their upbeat stuff like 'catch', and the john creamer and stephane k mix of 'hide u'.

i also heard reggie yates play this on the request show last saturday (probably one of my more favearable daytime radio 1 shows right now):-

<iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/wpqm-05R2Jk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

last time i heard that was about 7 to 8 years prior to when he played it.

Oh yeah, I completely forgot about the Avalanches... and Lemon Jelly as well come to think of it. How stupid of me. In that case I'm adding the following songs to my list:

The Avalanches - Since I Left You, Frontier Psychiatrist, Two Hearts in 3/4 Time, Electricity

Lemon Jelly - In The Bath, The Staunton Lick, His Majesty King Raam, Nice Weather For Ducks, Spacewalk

The Avalanches album in particular is fantastic, it's a great album to listen to on a hot summer's day. Such a shame that as of yet no follow-up has been released.

Just for the benefit of those who haven't seen the unforgettable video for Frontier Psychiatrist I'll post it below:

So save the last dance

For me my love 'cause I

I see you as an angel freshly fallen from the sky...

# all the ducks are swimming in the water!! #

anyway, this track reminds me of the end of year 11, it was always in my head before we broke up for our gcse exams in 2004:-

<iframe title="YouTube video player" width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/mUE5g7usV-Y" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

and this track reminds me of mark and lard, or their last year on radio 1 to be more accurate. when they first played it in 2003 (was their record of the week) at some point me and my dad were in north wales, and i remember him saying it reminded him of an old cat stevens song called 'father and son':-

<iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/jcFKlEfu_eU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

i like both tracks, but they kind of make me sad in a way. they reminds me of days long gone, and times i can never relive. there's still good times now, but i doubt i'll look back in 10 years and look upon things currently, as i do with the times related to the songs i posted above.

if we're going into the dance music, then i'll have to post this:-

i remember judge jules playing this a few years ago. and it stuck with me ever since, one of my all time faves considering it's a dub too.

bit of a thread revival.

i like multiple kings of leon tracks but these two are probably my favorites.

<iframe width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/eg3F4zpOdK8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

<iframe width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/_82646ziq68" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

plus rob dougan's 'clubbed to death', a track radio 1 have used for music beds sometimes over the last 10 years or so

<iframe width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/guM5wAkMQO0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

finally, bran van 3000's 'drinking in la'. reminds me of feeling nervous about starting year 7 for some incredibly strange reason, but i like the song. and was reminded of it when greg james played it not long ago.

and so many TV and movie soundtracks (I think the first might have been The Matrix) that it's actually become a cliche worthy of note during a Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe episode. :)

    • There was a time when everyone knew Zane Lowe or Annie Mac or Judge Jules or Dave Pearce or Annie Nightingale. Does the Radio 1 generation know the current bunch?
    • Looks like it's off to Preston!
    • Would be nice to give more presence to the specialist shows over bank holidays. Surely the best way to promote new music credentials over anthems? As much as I accept it's very popular.
    • Peak radio 1 ! I agree with Bluestraw there was huge presence by specialist presenters then , certainly something I think radio1 could do more of now. Remember the takeover where specialist DJs would swap into main shows for a week? Or do we recall In New DJs We Trust, the competition on Chris moyles show where the winner would get a DJ set at radio 1s Ibiza weekend, and that is how Danny Howard’s radio career starters
    • Yeah. He started on R1 in the late 90's when they used do the 'Sessions in the Nations' where they used to split for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. He then moved to daytimes, firstly on weekends in 2003 then they replaced Mark & Lard on the mid afternoon slot in 2004.  Then he moved to late evenings as a specialist DJ.
    • Thanks for sharing that - I don't think I've seen it before. Didn't realise that Colin Murray off of Countdown and R5L used to be on R1! Several other current R2/R5L/R6M names there too.
    • 29th April has updated to show Dan back as presenter but still Nels in for Alyx on Introducing Rock.
    • Where do we think Radio 2 in the Park will be this year? Personally I'm thinking Swindon after Scott's clue of it having many roundabouts and since Big Weekend is at Luton I can't imagine they'd go to Milton Keynes.
    • Yeah, I feel like they need a big push on Jack to cement him in his new position. But it shouldn't just be Jack, you've got Sian and Alyx for instance, who are relatively new faces.
    • Now in it's third week, the new Capital Breakfast Show seems to be settling down well and there are more of the informal, random Jordan topics appearing.  Though it is clear he wants to be seen slightly differently. It really is a very decent listen.
    • Just watched that advert and it made me realise quite how many 'big' specialist presenters there were back then
    • I've been reminded of this Radio 1 cinema advert. I remember being so excited to see it. The In New Music We Trust era. Everything felt so cool, even if they had Westwood.
    • Just Vick and Katie on Wednesday (and presumably Thursday as well).
    • Unless people can provide a source for this information then it should be treated as false.   Why would Jordan sign a contract with the BBC in the autumn when he agreed a deal with Global?  He could have left in August and not had to deal with the BBC.  Vick who doesn't really like Global why would she recommend him to go there and then warn him in her post to be careful?   It's been whispered from October that Roman was thinking of going.  Roman and Jordan have the same management team.  Why would they put Jordan in a place where he would have to battle with the BBC.  They could have agreed a deal with Global for Jordan in the summer.  They might have had to pay first couple months but they would do they to secure him.  If they had known about Roman wanting to leave they could have paid Roman off to get Jordan on air quicker.  Global would also not had legal around BBC contract to deal with and would not have had to pay the BBC to release Jordan.  None of what people say makes sense and if it did happen the way people say then BBC are not the stupid ones.  It really is not a good look to be talking with Global for 6 months, to then sign a contract with a the BBC, continue to talk to Global behind BBC's back after signing and then couple of months later want to leave and to throw a hissy fit as the BBC are not giving you what you want when you want it. That not a good light for Jordan or his management.
    • Wow, surprised he signed a new contract in September but it says a lot about Jordan that he continued to a very high standard throughout last summer/autumn if this was all going on in the background.
