BBC Radio 1 - Playlist

I'm sure since that 'Dubstep' takeover the other week, Radio 1 has started playing more 'dubstep'/black music genres, (e.g. 'Nero - Me And You')

Is it me, or is it copying 1Xtra's slogan ' Xtra RnB, Xtra Hip-Hop'

Unless that's what BBC bosses are trying to do?

There's a lot more '1Xtra' style music in there, such as 'Jessie J' and 'Rihanna'

The two playlists are very similar...

Latest additions:

- Full Imaging Beds package (2009-2010)

- 2009 re-voice by Music4 (DRY+WET IDs, chart numbers 1-40)

- BBC Top Gear - Backing beds used in programs

1 xtra should be left to play that type of music, unless it's a really big track. radio 1 could dig out some older stuff to put on their playlist to be played once in a while. and i mean stuff from 2001-2008, there's forgotten gems in there that people would probably love to hear again. and it's not above 10 years old so it can still pass as young music really.

on the grid.

I agree. If I wanted to listen to hip-hop or rap or whatever I'd listen to 1Xtra. No point having 2 stations playing majority 'black music'. That said, I do have a thing for Dubstep

There was a point when it started, but agreed. Now the stuff they play has become a bit more mainstream, they should probably shift to playing other stuff that is missed out on Radio1?

You have to remember that when Radio 1 promote Dubstep/Black Music by having a night like that and increasing the playlist for a while, they're getting more listeners to 1Xtra. 1Xtra do the same too, sometimes promote stuff BBC Radio 1 do.

They're also trying to get the right listeners to the right station too.
