iPod touch has camera(s) and is pretty much the iphone.

the classic still hasn't had any changes

the nano has a touch screen and is tiny (+clip)

the shuffle has its buttons back and is even smaller.

A camera? Bloody hell... When is this out, please?

I couldn't bear to abandon my old iPod so now I have 2 :D

I could never get rid of my beloved. I think he'll probably still sleep next to me, but will just be used less so.

Poor Plod lol.

I'll be getting the iPod Classic in december... would be v. annoying if next year, they doubled the memory again, like there have been predictions that they will do. :(

LOL? This is no laughing matter. I might wait for memory to be doubled, I want as much as possible, then I can keep the classic. I'll buy a new iPod (or whatever it becomes..) every few years.

OMASM. Radio presenters are like fruit. Matt is my kumquat and Scott is blatantly my orange.

So, what exactly can you do with Ping? Everyone's talking about it and I just haven't got a clue...

In the way that Jobs described it, it's Twitter and Facebook, meets music. You can follow both performing artists and your friends. This will allow you to be updated on your feed when the artist posts something - whether this be a new song, an update as for when their new material is out, gig dates, whatever - and also follow your friends.

The friends thing is whereby you search for the friend's name (I dunno if Ping supports Facebook Connect, it really should if it doesn't), and follow them (Twitter style) and then you'll get notified when they publish a song that they recommend, or gigs they're attending, etc.

As is similar with twitter, you can change your privacy settings to change who can follow you, and make it so you need to approve anyone who tries to follow you.

Finally, you can make your own collaborative chart of the top songs out of what you and your friends are all downloading.

I dunno if it exists, since I'm as yet to try it, though if it supports some form of recommended songs, or whatever, that'd be great.

There're probably several things I've missed, too, give it a go, would be my recommendation :)

I'm sure that's not normal..

It's basically like Last.fm, really, if you've ever used it. That does a similar thing. I think I'll be sticking with Last.fm for my new music though, because I like the radio feature it has and I don't buy a lot with iTunes really, just due to a lack of funds.

Yes, it does support Facebook Connect. Great description, BTW! I don't know if I could do any better, really :)

I believe everything is up and working fine now - I know there was a delay of about six hours between the Keynote (basically the presentation) and the actual release of the download, but I think everything's up and running fine.

Oh right. I've used Last.FM, I mean yeah, the radio feature's all well and good, but, when I first used it, and went to an artist's radio station, I expected to hear a selection of songs from that artist, not some related tracks...

Yeah, I end up usually pirating some stuff. Have a go at me, I dare you :P

Oh excellent, that makes life a lot easier! I'm as yet to use it, so I'm just taking stuff that I've got from the keynote and expanding on it a little, thanks :)

Sidenote: God damn Apple for removing it. *RAGE*

It's your choice. Also, I think Last.FM is more about finding more music, rather than listening to stuff you have heard already.

Yeah, there was a disagreement somewhere between the companies somewhere I think...sorry about that.

People really should just read the apple website...

If you mean me with this; I did that, but I just didn't understand it (maybe because I'm not English...). And also I think, people who have actually tried it can explain it better, because Apple just wants to get everyone to have it, and I wanted an independent explanation.

And thanks to Sam and Ryan for helping me with it! :)

    • The shows surely being driven for him so all he has to do is talk between the tracks and he can’t get even get that right
    • I thought the same to that comment, the license fee is going on me babes
    • What with Jamie Laing, now him. Is it time for a new Head of the station?
    • He also just said coming up we have brand new segment, I thought they were a band 🤣 how did this man get on Radio 1? Aled needs his head testing. It’s an insult people who deserve to be on the radio
    • Of all the times not mention capital it's probably now? Jordan is flying on breakfast with chris & sian and there's a presenter on friday and saturday that doesn't know who a main r1 artist, tldp are. Mentions capital which surely has to be a big no no given recent events and then says the licence fee goes to me. Talk about vom. We can't have it on here no more as it's that unlistenable and I'm about to switch back for m&m, but this is a Maya Jama x50 level mess of a show. Forget fading the microphone down, the entire show needs fading down
    • As positives go, at least Danny said what the last song played was and upcoming song played was. Plus I guess in that link are perhaps ideas for content (asking listeners to come up with bands from things around them, things that have happened to them this week). That's where's the positives end. It comes across as no thought has gone into what Danny will say next. It gives me proper flashbacks to some Jamie Laing links (especially that one show where he was unexpectedly solo). It's ironic that for all the duos and trios on the station - the one show and DJ that is positively crying out for another DJ to help show them the ropes is left all solo. At least with Jamie Laing they learnt their lesson and he's not been left solo since.
    • How he was just faded out at the end of the link reminded me of the Oscars music fading you out
    • RPReplay_Final1713612277.mp4   You’re welcome
    • At a time when Radio 1 has surely lost listeners to Capital at Breaktast you’d be trying to protect the station so people switch back.  Certainly yesterday I didn’t switch back to Radio 1 at all.
    • Was abysmal…Surely Danny can’t be a contender for anything permanent when the new schedules are locked in I.e Matt and Mollies slot
    • Alexandra Burke creating the phrase 'Elephant In The Room' whooooooooo
    • Zane Versus.... Whooooooooo. Do You Do Fridays? WhooOOOooo.
    • The Capital Breakfast show is right up my street so far - such a fun listen. You've both been great on Radio 1 and are sounding excellent again on Capital A few quickfire questions: You've both been part of some great pairings on radio and on podcast - what goes into making a duo or trio work and sound great on air? Also, Chris - were there ever any discussions about you moving over to Radio 2 with Scott or had the Global offer already come first? Also how do you both go about managing that split between your radio 'you' and the private 'you'? You share a lot on air but also there's some understandably some stuff you keep private (famously Jordan doesn't 'talk about those things'). And how do you make sure if you're having a miserable day or are a bit low that it doesn't come across too much on air?
    • What a nightmare link at 11.15am this morning. Spent 30 seconds waffling about the name of The Last Dinner Party as if he’d never heard it before, then started mentioning Capital and the license fee, and how it’s been used to pay for him to be there, and was then cut off by the start of the next song.
    • Have been reading this all week. She's such a brave woman. Just got to the chapter where she explains why she missed Scott's leaving event at Radio 1. She talks about leaving Radio 1 because her mum's health got worse, and wanting to quietly leave radio at 44 just how she first arrived on the airwaves at 18. Worth a read!
