Matt Edmondson's last Sunday show

Really not that fussed over Matt- but Sara deserves a lot more than one crappy show a week. And ditch the skive/lie-in thing- there's enough boring old music on The Golden Hour and Wonder Years already.

There are around 100 hours of playlisted music a week, so surely 3 or 4 hours of older music a week isn't a bad thing...

What sort of a word is HURR? and seriously get a life...

i used to think it was some sort of short form for hurry but it appears to be some sort of compaining word, if you get what i mean. and Annalie does have a life. if you are interested then please tune into ATV to watch 'AaronWatch', an amazing new soap about our pathetic/amazing/fantastic/slightly annoying lives. 15th episode on tonight. ;)

It's unfortunate that we had to switch off when Jedward and Jordan came on as best bits.

You're not the only one - and there were a few news cock-ups aswell. I really don't understand pre-records, especially Matt Edmondson. Just get someone else in to do the show!

*cough*

I'd just turned on a short while before Jedward were on. It was awesome. :) Turned the radio up, and my friend, who'd slept round the previous night, and I raved when Under Pressure (Ice Ice Baby) was played. All my friends have been converted to Jedicated Jedward fans. ;)

OMASM. Radio presenters are like fruit. Matt is my kumquat and Scott is blatantly my orange.

I read about a Jedward fan today who was so confused that BOTH of these... people managed to pull her and she thought it was just one of them. Sounds like the typical fan really.

The mysterious girl featured in the next episode of Jedward: Let Loose? :) On tomorrow at 9PM everyone!

Glad Sara's going to be back, I was a fan of Matt when he was first on, but with him being so awful to people on twitter I've been put right off him. There was a friday a few weeks back where Matt seemed to be on everyones shows all afternoon, very irritating.

His weekend show was far too over produced and forced, there were so many long prerecorded segments about someone buying a new hat or some crap like that.

WOW!! This is going OFF!!! Hey Tom, you are WELL in there!!!!!!!

Bit of match-making for free on UM....

Agreed! Maybe a replacement for Edith?

Yeah, Edith's show's good but its nothing special.

Maybe he could replace Jo (shes rumoured to be leaving soon for R2)...

    • Radio 1 generation meaning??  Today's 10-30 yr-olds? I doubt it. They'll still know Pete Tong though, because he is rhyming slang!
    • There was a time when everyone knew Zane Lowe or Annie Mac or Judge Jules or Dave Pearce or Annie Nightingale. Does the Radio 1 generation know the current bunch?
    • Looks like it's off to Preston!
    • Would be nice to give more presence to the specialist shows over bank holidays. Surely the best way to promote new music credentials over anthems? As much as I accept it's very popular.
    • Peak radio 1 ! I agree with Bluestraw there was huge presence by specialist presenters then , certainly something I think radio1 could do more of now. Remember the takeover where specialist DJs would swap into main shows for a week? Or do we recall In New DJs We Trust, the competition on Chris moyles show where the winner would get a DJ set at radio 1s Ibiza weekend, and that is how Danny Howard’s radio career starters
    • Yeah. He started on R1 in the late 90's when they used do the 'Sessions in the Nations' where they used to split for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. He then moved to daytimes, firstly on weekends in 2003 then they replaced Mark & Lard on the mid afternoon slot in 2004.  Then he moved to late evenings as a specialist DJ.
    • Thanks for sharing that - I don't think I've seen it before. Didn't realise that Colin Murray off of Countdown and R5L used to be on R1! Several other current R2/R5L/R6M names there too.
    • 29th April has updated to show Dan back as presenter but still Nels in for Alyx on Introducing Rock.
    • Where do we think Radio 2 in the Park will be this year? Personally I'm thinking Swindon after Scott's clue of it having many roundabouts and since Big Weekend is at Luton I can't imagine they'd go to Milton Keynes.
    • Yeah, I feel like they need a big push on Jack to cement him in his new position. But it shouldn't just be Jack, you've got Sian and Alyx for instance, who are relatively new faces.
    • Now in it's third week, the new Capital Breakfast Show seems to be settling down well and there are more of the informal, random Jordan topics appearing.  Though it is clear he wants to be seen slightly differently. It really is a very decent listen.
    • Just watched that advert and it made me realise quite how many 'big' specialist presenters there were back then
    • I've been reminded of this Radio 1 cinema advert. I remember being so excited to see it. The In New Music We Trust era. Everything felt so cool, even if they had Westwood.
    • Just Vick and Katie on Wednesday (and presumably Thursday as well).
    • Unless people can provide a source for this information then it should be treated as false.   Why would Jordan sign a contract with the BBC in the autumn when he agreed a deal with Global?  He could have left in August and not had to deal with the BBC.  Vick who doesn't really like Global why would she recommend him to go there and then warn him in her post to be careful?   It's been whispered from October that Roman was thinking of going.  Roman and Jordan have the same management team.  Why would they put Jordan in a place where he would have to battle with the BBC.  They could have agreed a deal with Global for Jordan in the summer.  They might have had to pay first couple months but they would do they to secure him.  If they had known about Roman wanting to leave they could have paid Roman off to get Jordan on air quicker.  Global would also not had legal around BBC contract to deal with and would not have had to pay the BBC to release Jordan.  None of what people say makes sense and if it did happen the way people say then BBC are not the stupid ones.  It really is not a good look to be talking with Global for 6 months, to then sign a contract with a the BBC, continue to talk to Global behind BBC's back after signing and then couple of months later want to leave and to throw a hissy fit as the BBC are not giving you what you want when you want it. That not a good light for Jordan or his management.
