BBC Radio 1 - FX

Hi guys,

Have found the FX library that won the pitch to be the fx package late last year. Goodness knows what it must cost them, seeing their prices, and it's an exclusive package.

I personally, prefer the noise Fusion and wise buddah fx stuff really. What do you think?

Noise Fusion id_1: http://www.noisefusion.com/id1/

Wise Buddah X-Gen: http://www.wisebuddah.com/store

Which do you prefer, and how do you think the current package sounds on-air?

Latest additions:

- Full Imaging Beds package (2009-2010)

- 2009 re-voice by Music4 (DRY+WET IDs, chart numbers 1-40)

- BBC Top Gear - Backing beds used in programs

Well found! I think the package made at the moment sounds great - but it's still a shame at the 1tros have been taken off. I would like to know who makes the brand new IDs though.

For 1,000£ i don't see why they paid so much for x-gen when they hardly use the beds!

Matt Fisher (head of station sound) told me in a message:

'

Station Voices are:

Holly Meyrick - Mainstream

David Walker - Mainstream

Katie Bilboa - Specialist

Dan Snaith - Specialist

Russell Evans - Specialist

We then use a variety of voices for different campaigns etc...

My post now:

The ID's are made in-house. This is where the station grab a session with the voiceover artist(s), then add in the FX.

It seems X-Gen was used between July-November last year, once the Noise Fusion stuff ran out, and before the new licence started, but you can still hear parts of X Gen on The Surgery (the Army Ammunition), and some of the noise Fusion stuff.

Maybe some of those specialist vocalists/other voices. They're recorded at BBC R1 and they add in the 'Royal Panther' sounds
