Very interesting, but irritating article.

That one comment : "It'll also get the people off my back that say I don't do anything" annoys me.

I know if it had been me, I would do even less. Just because he is gay doesn't necessarily mean he has to take part in a whole load of stuff.

Just a thought.

I wouldn't agree that Scott feels the need to 'hide' his sexuality, he just sees it as irrelevant to his show. In the same way that me being straight is irrelevant to my job.

Funnily enough, it does often come across that way!! A person almost trying to "hide" things.

But then, it IS nobody's business really!!

I dont see why he needs to go on about it apart from the occasional surgery to give advice etc. We dont hear much about Greg and Ellie so why do we need to know loads about Scott and some guy.

Onto the breakfast thing I feel it maybe to late for him and he'd need a whole new team and whole new show to make it a success as he's lacking Chappers.

When he covers breakfast he just seems to get rid of everything Chris does (even tho its Chris's show) and replaces it with music and generic stuff which could be heard any time imo.

I do like Scott however as a solid afternoon presenter :)

I was watching somebody I subscribe to on YouTube the other day, and he raised a good point.

Straight people seem to talk about their wife/husband/boyfriend/girlfriend all the time. Even just who they fancy.

When gay people do this, it is thought that they are 'flaunting their sexuality'.

I suppose Scott doesn't want to be seen to do this, maybe?

In his colunm in GT magazine Scott's a bit more open about his personal life and he has said that his partner or the boyf as he refers to him, is not into the whole celeb thing and he keeps his name private. Which is why he doesn't mention him on air and there's no need to either. As i said in GT magazine he's a bit more open abot things. He doesn't need to mention his sexaulty on air because it isn't relevant to his show,radio 1 is not specificully aimed at gay people where as GT is ,which is why he's more open about his private life.

Do you read GT? I so would, but I worry about the looks I would get in shops.. I've only seen a Danny Miller & Marc Silcock interview, when this guy scanned it and put it on the blog. Actually, I've just realised he was straight...

I don't really read GT properly i go into WHsmiths, go to the gay section and pick up GT (which is normally on the top shelf ) and go to Scott's colunm (which is normally on the first few pages) have a quick read through and then put it back.

      Agreed, Martha seems to quietly taken over as host of the Tuesday Bass and Big Beats show that Annie Nightingale did would be good to have some promotion to be done for her show. Agreed with this on bank holidays on a Radio 1 dance day inpaticular would be quite good to have Sarah Storey, Jaguar, Jeremiah Asiamah, Charlie Tee and Martha presenting. I always felt that in Christmas and New Year previously having Victoria Jane to do a Future Soul take over playlist.

      To be fair to him, this week and next week he’s on his podcast tour which was arranged well before he started on R1. After that I would guess he’ll start being on everyday?

      Would be nice to give more presence to the specialist shows over bank holidays. Surely the best way to promote new music credentials over anthems? As much as I accept it's very popular.

      Peak radio 1 ! I agree with Bluestraw there was huge presence by specialist presenters then , certainly something I think radio1 could do more of now. Remember the takeover where specialist DJs would swap into main shows for a week? Or do we recall In New DJs We Trust, the competition on Chris moyles show where the winner would get a DJ set at radio 1s Ibiza weekend, and that is how Danny Howard’s radio career starters

      Yeah. He started on R1 in the late 90's when they used do the 'Sessions in the Nations' where they used to split for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. He then moved to daytimes, firstly on weekends in 2003 then they replaced Mark & Lard on the mid afternoon slot in 2004.  Then he moved to late evenings as a specialist DJ.

      Thanks for sharing that - I don't think I've seen it before. Didn't realise that Colin Murray off of Countdown and R5L used to be on R1! Several other current R2/R5L/R6M names there too.

      29th April has updated to show Dan back as presenter but still Nels in for Alyx on Introducing Rock. 6th May schedule has updated to show that the Radio 1 Big Weekend Shows will now be the following: 6am-10am 10am-2pm 2pm-6pm 6pm-8pm Still no presenters listed.

      Where do we think Radio 2 in the Park will be this year? Personally I'm thinking Swindon after Scott's clue of it having many roundabouts and since Big Weekend is at Luton I can't imagine they'd go to Milton Keynes.

      Now in it's third week, the new Capital Breakfast Show seems to be settling down well and there are more of the informal, random Jordan topics appearing.  Though it is clear he wants to be seen slightly differently. It really is a very decent listen.
