  1. I understand Katie not wanting to move.  However, some of the biggest radio shows (Elvis Duran, Stern) in the US feature presenters in remote locations and I used to forget sometimes until it was mentioned.

All in all Jamie and Vick doesn't strike me as a fully permanent thing.

You're inches away from saying that Dean needs to be given the boot ...

People on social media tend to favour negativity but I have honestly not seen more than a handful of people say they like Dean.  I can barely tolerate his show and that's probably mainly because I'm forced to listen to it. I used to love him on a Friday, it's just so weird.  And I absolutely love Vicky...with other people.

  3. Radio 1 during the day Monday to Friday. Radio 3 or Classic FM or Jazz Mix on Spotify in the evenings (studying). If by myself on a Friday I'll pop on Michelle Visage.

Weekend is spotty but Radio 1 for chores except for Elaine Page on Sunday.  If studying then the aforementioned.

X-Factor style .......... pauses ....... before ........ every (not particularly) important ........ announcement    (NOT MISSED)

Greg had Callum do an entire story last week while the audio of Maya Jama pausing to announce the winners of Love Island played in background lol.

  5. Oh dear, just heard the story on Vick and Jordan that the surprise set listed for Introducing stage was rumoured to be Harry Styles and turned out to be Sam and Danni doing karaoke.  Poor things lol.

  6. I don't understand this entitlement that certain things need to stay the same to suit some people I guess until they die.  One of the "oldies" stations in NYC decided to stop playing Sinatra and other Standards in the early oughts and some people lost their ever loving minds.

Is it really? When she covered Dean she was very good at it. Also you could hear her personality broadcasting talents during Murder Mystery.

Yes!  When I think about it I would have like to seen her paired with Vicky or Dean.  I like both of them but I think they need a balance for all that ALL ENERGY ALL THE TIME.

Absolute Radio makes a bad situation much much worse ... Not just the adverts, but announcements that there's going to be a travel update after the next advert (wtf?), plus advertisements for the breakfast show (which shouldn't need to be promoted, at other times), plus entirely unfunny recorded interjections from that gravelly-voiced fellow ... Just crack on to the next bloody record!!! .......

I absolutely feel like they make the situation terrible to get people to sign up for their fee service.  Which they seem to harp on Every.Single.Break.

  9. I'm playing catch up here as I only even started listening to Radio 1 in November of 2021.  I moved to Scotland two years prior, had a few months before the pandemic hit.  I had pretty much given up on radio back home except for the school run as even the non latest music stations were repetitive (you have 30-40ish years of music to pick from and you still have to play Hotel California two, three times a day!!???) and heavy with adverts.  So I just listened to Spotify and old RSK shows on loop.  I am kicking myself now, it not dawning on me that BBC Radio was out there as I have heard many times of the companionship felt during lock down times.

What's kind of funny is one of the the first things I remember about Scott and Chris was the farting version of Do it To it which I HATED.  But it wasn't long before I was silently cursing Doreen for printing stuff out right when Brother or Lover reveal was made or turning the radio down to make a phone call during the whoooo game.  Man alive I used to look forward to Mondays just for that.  Crazy.

  10. I have considered suggesting we put the office radio over to Radio 2.  My only sticking point is the Jeremy Vine show.  I actually don't hate the show, I just don't know that it's good fit for our workplace. I know the discussions are not always "political" but in our particular dynamic I feel like it could get awkward.  If only I could keep my mouth shut lol.
