A student tour isn’t a bad shout.  
 

I was really apprehensive about this, as I wrote above, but I actually enjoyed listening yesterday and thought it was quite fun having Greg, Vick and Jordan on throughout the day. 
Today, however I’m back to my original opinion of this being way too planned and forced. Too much repetition I think, and as jordifens said, the password will only be ‘guessed’ when they have planned for it to be over. I would have been happy if he got out on the guess of Albert and they let him out to see the giraffes! 
 
They have been to some cool places, so it seems like this could have been pulled off as a road trip as originally billed, and maybe  had some Greg vs Vick & Jordan stuff for competition (as it seems to me they are trying to solidify Vick & Jordan as a double act in people’s minds). It could have been fun without all the scripting I think.

Just feels like a ridiculously contrived format. It's obvious that each deciphered clue won't be the exit password and the fact ther are only two guesses a show max just kills the pace of it. The production team have put together 5 days of content so there's no way Greg will 'guess' the password before Friday's Breakfast Show. Yawn.

I’m a bit gutted with this evening’s announcement to be honest. I was hoping for a more natural introduction of  Vick & Jordan to the weekday team, but this feels much too scripted and set up. As others have said, this idea has been done before, and I can’t help but feel that after over a year of lock downs, I’m not going to find listening to Gregg locked in a small space very entertaining.  If they pull it off well, I could be proved wrong, but I would have preferred a true road trip with some cheerful vibes personally. 

I agree on this too. I'm not a fan of the shortening and mixing of songs. When Greatest Hits first started 10-1, the songs were played in full. Radio 1 aren't fully against playing older tracks from the mid 90's and earlier, especially where dance music is concerned. The likes of Spice Girls and Oasis seem to get a regular look in on features like 10 minute takeover etc. 
Goes without saying that younger people like older tracks, but as a CHR station, it'd be quite jarring if they went back further more often. Still, better than Capital who go back 5-6 years at most if they chuck in a non playlist track.
 

Yes and think it’s in the debate whether people see it as ‘impartial’ kinds of feeds into the politics of broadcasting it’s like when think of it when the Queen passes and ‘London Bridge Falls Down’ so to say that protocol will be enacted beyond BBC and British institutions like New Zealand wouldn’t be allowed to play any songs by Queen and their flags fly at half masts etc. Think it think goes into the constitutional politics and the politics of whether the BBC or Media is in broadcast bias for or against. Think the BBC obit mode for BBC Defunders, Anti monarchist Republicans, monarchists think aired views and things got bit heated because abonromal moments spark strong reaction.
Well on the day of course listeners weren’t as happy to have simulcasts and change of playlist but what it did. Was the words of the top brass the Director General and people who in charge of the board of the BBC made the calls assume so the Radio 1 and Pop Team Lorna nor Aled I’d imagine had say over any decisions just told to broadcast the audio news output then go to the somber emergency playlist.
Think it’s definately question in public interest but much of the general protocol can imagine are done for this stuff with Ofcom and under the BBC charter that the government and Parliament sign of and department of media has to deal with.

Completely agree with you that Radio 1 is always significantly better than the likes of Capital. And I'm not realistically expecting a return to how things were 20 years ago! But I still think the balance has tipped a bit too far away from the longer links... As proven here though, clearly some will think differently ?
Aaron's point is excellent through - by design, RMC's move to mornings will improve the entertainment balance, so my 'one thing to fix' is, I guess, already being done!!

Good for joint up thinking. Feel some sort of in concert on 6 music would work as feel of something that feels like the 6 music listener would enjoy.
I’d think that with Craig Charles being twice on Saturday first 3 hours on 6M then 2 more hours on 2 that there’s space to amplify different genres in the sechedule 

Indeed. Extending my previous idea - Could then throw-in an 'In Concert' hour on 6Music, 9pm Saturdays. So then there would be a run of three hours altogether, of various shades of Rock, over three stations ... Caters amply for the leather-trousered amongst us, without making serious disruptions to any particular schedule - How's that for joined-up thinking?

I mean agree that would be an idea to shake things up a bit and something if I was controller be willing to try to experiment and see how that goes I mean it will be similar level of energy to over Saturday progeamminf with different gear changes. I’d say worth a try then. I’m surprised that 6 Music hasn’t got a rock show of their own to at least have some content for Rock fans across BBC

I am surprised the Rock Show is surviving the new schedule.  Very little rock music is making the playlist so could be covered on a Future Sounds and Future Artists.

The Rock Show is all wrong on a Sunday, that's for sure. 

I do find that they still need to work on how to use platforms effectively like when got the live lounge going on it would make sense to go live with it across TikTok, Youtube, Facebook, Instagram then up on IGTV would make sense to clip up bits of Jacks chats for Insta stories and TikTok with Next Wave do Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat stories trailing what is coming up on shows like Scott Chris, Greg James, Future Sounds (more trailing to Hottest Records would make sense), do certain lifehacks Q&A tweet alongs with bits in the week across Twitter, Instagram, TikTok few livestreams and chats. Get Newsbeat their own TikTok where can do short daily edition drops and maybe with BBC Minute to work with BBC World Service for developing short snappy engaging news on social media.
Think they started doing good multi media bits just not as consistent with Newsbeat, Lifehacks, Entertianment features and podcasts as well as the specialist music shows. The most of Radio 1s social media content doesn’t reflect what they do on air and should as you know there are some good presenters but don’t know if social media content leads to the youth demographic to tune in 

Probably Katie or one of the Christmas presenters.

Would be amusing sure Jordan North would feel pretty pleased to win this poll as think probably wouldn’t be suprised if he does check this from time to time. Definatley would see Jack Saunders, Katie Thistleton, Vick Hope, Clara Amfo, Matt Edmonson & Mollie King, Arrielle Free as beyond Scott Mills my real favourites at the moment of course do like Jordan North

Agree with this. But we’ve had Moyles, Grimmy & Greg. That’s 20+ years of solo males (by the time I expect Greg will finish). I would be shocked if we didn’t see a female presenter, even if co-hosting alongside a another, on breakfast.

Sounds like what would’ve worked with listeners as would allow to explore niches and providing public service broadcasting doesnt export its older or less mainstream listener 

I feel on Friday not doing breakfast slight demotion but assume that there could be more listeners on afternoons than breakfast at the weekends they sounding good on that slot a good duo I did feel that they could’ve countinued in that slot for continuity as have been switched around abit 

Think by the sounds of it could imagine they will make it sound a bit different from the days of Fearne, Jo and Clara probably more entertainment and features than just simple playlist may end up trying to compete with Kiss in mid mornings.
Can see a shake up in style of the shows tho wouldve switched Rock Show to Thursdays after Jack and future Soul to sunday evenings and made the power down after midnight. 

Can imagine more about future soul announced in coming time interms of presenter think I will look forward to that. Possibly the residency or essential mix could’ve replaced Diplo but think sound system makes sense as part of the R1 Xtra take over
