I think those radio player/ tune-in apps are missing out on a tool where you can create your own radio calendar if I had set radio routine that is station hopping it would be good to create your own schedule so it switches seamlessly without going into different apps or opening app and jumping to different service...
That's an excellent idea. So excellent, that it will probably never happen ...

You're inches away from saying that Dean needs to be given the boot ...

Blimey, how do you keep up with all that?
The Radio Times, plus trial-and-error dial-twiddling over the years!
Obviously not everything gets my undivided attention, according to whether I'm at work, out & about etc. But aim for an overall sense of quality and variety...

Scott certainly felt at home on Radio 2 over the weekend.
Still sounds out of place to me on his regular spot

Do you have a link?
I made a point about the difference in a Glastonbury trailer in my OP, so have no idea what Theodore was driving at ...

Listened last night from 7pm. No improvement, to my ears. Had switched over to Jo Whiley by 7.15pm.

I can see that, but it depends if there's anyone left alive to moan. People are living longer now. It won't happen but there needs to be a 'Radio 3' that rivals smooth, playing everything pre 1990. Radio 2 has too much of an age range on it's plate.
Even so, I'd also happily listen to Mark Lamarr doing 'Sounds Of The 50's' in some graveyard hour ..
-
R2's Pick Of The Pops should be hoovering-up more of the 00's, in any case .. Come to think of it, a 'Sounds Of The Noughties' show wouldn't go amiss, either.

Ermmm .. Don't let on that you're just starting out?

If Ken regards new music as something from 2002 then his time had come I'm afraid. A lot of Radio 2's new music on their playlist is from established artists like Bev Knight, Keane, Simply Red etc. They are even playing a new song from Dolly Parton at the moment.
Not that it makes the slightest dent in his handsome pay check, but I think KB has managed to make a right tit of himself, over the whole course of his move to GHR. And to think that, last year, he was the un-disputed king of mid-mornings ...

[The music that makes me switch over ~ ] 2 when 80s before my time comes on, and 1 when 'gimmie a quid or man will stab ya nan' type grime comes on.
That's perfect

Out of respect to Mills i do not listen to it and listen to him on 2 instead.
I can see that. Am sticking with R1 2pm-3pm, in my routine (for now) - Agree with others that Matt & Mollie would have made more of it ....

Vick is certainly worse than Dean and this was more apparent when she was paired with other DJs when Dean was away.
Funny how we experience things in different ways. To my ears, Dean cramps Vicky's style, more so than any of the substitutes.
Agreed overall it's a big step down from Scott & Chris - But then, it was bound to be.

What does the concept even mean? Excluding things that were made with under-15's in mind??

I recall Gloria Hunniford and Ed Stewart doing 1 and a half hours each, pre-Steve Wright!

I'll have a look at a rundown of who's presenting on CBBC these days and get back to you on that.

...Few presenters have ever got Radio 1 breakfast aged over mid-30s. Mark and Lard are about the only ones that spring to mind and that was the shortest ever full-time stint at breakfast.
Even Greg at 33 was at the higher end.
It shouldn't be about age but about connecting with audience but the figures speak for themselves.
I think Steve Wright tops the list, at 39.

I must say the Radio 1 schedule is all over the place this Summer. The thing with radio is we like routine, Radio 1 has been nothing but.
When is the last time it was tidy?!

I usually enjoy the Jeremy Vine Show (switching over to R1 after 2pm news, as - whisper it - Scott isn't doing it for, on R2). He handles the mixture of light and serious talking points (plus musical interludes) skilfully enough.
Vine also has a while to go before he matches Jimmy Young's tenure (and not everyone was too keen on him - but that's another story).
If he absolutely had to be replaced, then someone should twist Nicky Campbell's arm .....

I'd say it was a safe prediction that Vernon Kay's figures will drift upwards next time, and Ken Who?'s figures will drift down.

Same - and: of the people who have done it since .... Jordan did it best.
