  1. I’ve got a feeling whatever it is next week it’s gonna be brilliant.
  2. Never thought of that, could be !
  3. He could take over from Annie Mac at some point whenever she leaves, he’s a lot younger than her so it could happen
  4. Yeah, they’ll have known all the plans for months. Maybe some logistics have fallen through.
  5. It’s really weird. Radio 1 have almost gone silent since the Jan Slam about it. Maybe something’s gone wrong.
  6. Oh sorry, must’ve made a mistake there. Yeah, I completely agree, wonder if there’s still any hope of him getting a better slot.
  7. I agree actually to a degree. Although it’s on at drivetime.
  8. Pleased to see a full week of Phil is for Annie next week, always good to hear.
  9. yeah, and if he waits a bit more he'll probably be the next drive host, Grimmy's not gonna last long on there
  10. How do we think Adele will sound on The 8th??
  11. It sounded really good today. Clara fits that format so well, it shows how slick she can be as a music presenter.

    Alts to R1

while we're talking about different stations, which do you prefer? Capital or Kiss. Kiss somehow has even less personality on it than Capital so I wasn't keen when I sampled it. Capital has it's moments for me, but obviously Radio 1 is, and will always be miles ahead.
  13. Maybe a 48 hour lolathon, that would be incredible. I wonder if either Scott or Greg could go after the longest show moyles record this year, I’d really like to hear that.
  14. He’s really snipey about moyles these days. Is it Breakfast show resentment? Surely not.

I quite like LBC generally, for a bit of contrast from music radio.
  16. Sloth had a long career on 1Xtra, not so long on Radio 1.
  17. I suppose they need the rock show for those fans, and it’s on a very off peak slot. Dev on The 8th, I go back and forth with, it’s not great, but it’s nice having him on weekdays, to be honest I’d have preferred him to get drive for an interim period rather than Grimshaw.
  18. Arielle is already in her 30s, although maybe she could take on a weekend slot.
  19. Yeah, Capital Yorkshire is really funny in the mornings sometimes. I always find Greg a bit bland in the mornings, (he was amazing on drive) but still listen most mornings, same for Matt and Mollie, from whenever I wake up (around 8am). Scott I hear a lot live, never a dull moment during that show, Clara too, but I swap over to Will Manning sometimes, because Clara gets a bit boring. Grimmy I hear a fair amount, even though that show isn’t the best, it’s gotta be a temporary thing, bring on Jordan North drivetime! I listen to Annie, Dev and Jack a bit in the evenings sometimes, depending on what I’m doing. Weekends, Dev and Alice I seem to catch a lot, Jordan too, and Maya, but I can’t believe she’s got such a prominent slot over people like Jordan and Matt.
  20. I thought this would be really interesting to see. How much do you listen to Radio 1 on a daily basis? How does it fit into your daily routine? Does anyone listen through the day every/most days? I really look forward to finding out. Let’s see who listens the most.
  21. I can’t see that, Scott is a radio guy through and through, it’s his passion, it’s all he’s always wanted to do. He wouldn’t just do a podcast. Podcasts will more be a side project.
  22. Really really good points. Yeah, the chart is secure Scott if he wants to stay on it for a few years I’m sure. A bit like Mark Goodier all those years ago.
  23. You could argue that Ricky Charlie and Melvin are very young in terms of their appeal and relevancy, more so than people like Greg, as they have a quite credible “cool” imagine. But it’d be very surprised if a trio including someone who’s nearly 40 took over drivetime, if that happened it might highlight a bigger problem at the station. Where are the new Greg and Grimmy of today? The young upstarts who take on Breakfast and drive. Jordan? Nearly 30, doubtful he’ll ever do more than a few years on drive, massively underused, and should’ve got a bigger gig yonks ago. Looking at presenter ages now, and listening (as a teenager) a LOT of what I hear seems to be slipping a bit too old. I have no idea why they got Mollie on, she’s 30, and no teenager I’ve ever met would be a fan of/or even heard of her. When you look at the ages, and hear the content, it’s slowly (very slowly, but getting faster) becoming like the early 90s, it’s going to need a proper cull at this point, with a clear out and lots of younger talent to bring in. Unless they do something a bit less drastic very very soon. That’s how I feel listening anyway, it’s still the best radio station in the world, but it’s becoming a bit older in appeal, it’s needs to regenerate again. I’m not saying having older listeners is bad, I think anyone who likes it should listen, but I’m more concerned about it not appealing to the target demographic, who is the only people they should have in mind when creating content, if others enjoy then brilliant, but they aren’t who it’s being aimed at. Ironically Scott actually sounds the youngest to me out of daytimes, and completely bang on target, compared to the likes of Clara or Greg. by the way, I’m brand new to posting here, but I’ve been reading for a couple of years, and it’s absolutely brilliant to be speaking to others who care out these dicusssions as much as me
