I would guess that Arielle had to leave the show because she was ill and therefore can’t present tonight.

As much as I think Mollie is a great presenter, I feel that Maia should get Future Pop now permanently. She definitely deserves that show, and with Mollie now on weekdays it saves her having to do 2 shows a day. She could still have a daily Future Bop or something like that on the weekday show too.

Yes I agree too, perfect company for a long drive at that time of night. I’d also like to sing Phil Williams’ praises too - I’d like to hope that if OJ did get a bigger show at some point, Phil would take over the midnight slot.

I think that’s Sam and Danni’s first time covering breakfast - congrats to them and looking forward to seeing how they get on on it!

I would be pretty confident that if they keep avoiding using James Cusack on that slot over the next few weeks, then it will probably be him that gets the show permanently!

Ahhh very happy for Amy - that’s very well deserved! I didn’t hear their final show but are Matt and Mollie keeping Helena? Hopefully she might be the main producer of their new show!

And Arielle mentioned in her Instagram post that her final early breakfast show is the 27th of June - the Thursday before Glastonbury

Yeah I don’t think they’ll be anything that drastic - maybe a week or 2 of cover on early breakfast etc, but maybe just having that weekend afternoon slot covered over the summer means they can put someone on from September who maybe isn’t available until then?

The Summer on Radio 1 thing makes me wonder whether they might be doing something similar to last year again where they have a temporary schedule over the summer before introducing changes in September - maybe the new host won’t start until after the summer?

I just want to add though that I am beginning to enjoy the show a bit more now that it’s settled in - I think Jamie (when he’s there) has calmed down a bit and then the new features that have been progressively added over the last couple of weeks have been good too. I still don’t think it’s a patch on Vick and Jordan together, but it is now a show that seems like it could have legs into the future and once Matt and Mollie start in July, I could see myself sticking with R1 all afternoon.

So from the podcast it’s Vick and Jamie on Monday, all 3 of them on Tuesday and Wednesday, Vick and Katie on Thursday and then Katie is on holiday the week after so it’s just Vick and Jamie. I wonder how long it will be before we actually get a full week of their show?

To be fair to him, this week and next week he’s on his podcast tour which was arranged well before he started on R1. After that I would guess he’ll start being on everyday?

Did it take a lot of tempting to go to Capital Jordan? Did you feel like you’d achieved everything you could at Radio 1 (other than breakfast)? Chris, how did your Capital move come about? Did Radio 1 want you to stay after Scott moved on?

Arielle is in Dubai and Ibiza - I think she has pre-recorded her new show this week (at least that’s what it looked like from her Insta stories on Thursday) I think if Katie is off it will mostly likely be Matt - he’s the only other one who has presented with Jamie before

I wonder if R1 will do a big event type thing on the week that Jordan starts on Capital? It will minimise the number of people turning over I’d guess

Sam MacGregor definitely gave UM a shoutout a few weeks ago! I know that Jordan had also done it in the past. I think your best bet would probably be Sam and Danni’s weekend breakfast show tbh!

Jordan North… Seriously though, out of the commercial stations I only really listen to Capital but I do think Will Manning is very strong (and could quite easily slot into R1). I also think Jimmy Hill is a very good commercial DJ (but probably wouldn’t be as good on R1).

I think that’s a very good line-up so far, I was underwhelmed last year but it’s already looking better this year!

Tuesday 2nd April - the week after Easter weekend!

I’m going to take a stab at the headliners (based on who I think R1 have the budget for and who they’ve played lots in the past few months) Friday: Fred Again.. Saturday: Usher Sunday: RAYE All 3 of these also have touring gaps where they’d be able to play big weekend.
