  1. So day 2 begins... I was thinking maybe look at people who haven't said anything yet? They said 10 people know but haven't named names.

Chris Smith has been quiet, as has George Ezra given the amount of time they plated Shotgun.

As you can tell, still none the wiser...

06:30-10:00 The Radio 1 Breakfast Show with Theresa and Arlene

    10:00-12:45 Nicola Sturgeon

    13:00-16:00 Caroline Lucas (Mon-Wed) / Jonathan Bartley (Thu-Sat)

    16:00-19:00 Jeremy Corbyn

    19:00-21:00 MistaJam

    Thoughts?

Stick Boris Johnson on the chart show and you have a winner.

  3. Okay so lots of speculations that Scott could be leaving soon. Whether or not that be true, he's gonna leave sooner or later, and he probably won't be taking Chris Stark with him.

SO what's gonna happen with Chris? Most likely option maybe is co-hosting with Alice, given Chris never having done a show by himself before and Alice being a good co-presenter as proved by history.

Another idea: Chris doing a similar show to something like Cel did on a weekend? Something to do with viral videos, trending music or something similar, being as he went viral thanks to Mila Kunis and all that. (He's a perfectly good radio presenter in his own right, but that MIla Kunis video will always be there.)

Maybe an hour long show or something completely by himself, just to get him into the groove of driving the desk himself etc? Then after he's become skilled with that, then move him up as a solo presenter?

Unless, of course, Chris does leave with Scott being as they've always been a partnership, then he goes into some online or maybe BBC iPlayer stuff for Radio 1 being as they're obsessed with YouTube, maybe like the ICYMI shows he did?

Or Chris could leave R1 altogether and go to another station. Personally I wouldn't do that, his dream job was to be at R1 so unless that's changed in the time he's been there he'll stick around as much as possible.

Nothing I am afraid, but I enjoyed bangers whilst at work in the morning, and in the afternoon while we tided the house ready to sell - Greg and Matt really ramped things up with the bangers, as opposed to the boring Amfo lady - she is very very cute, but her skill set is not a patch even on Grimmy but specially Scott

Yes true giving Scott the recognition he deserves, as the "senior" DJ on the station in service and experience, although not "senior" in the ranks of show

I keep wondering why all this Scott related stuff is happening, are they doing some build up to an announcement maybe when the 50th Birthday is going on about Scott leaving or am I reading too much into it

I would have loved to see Scott break the Moyles 52hr record on the Lolothon, what a final stand that would have been

I am really hoping that Scott will be one of the main presenters if not the lead presenter for the 50th celebrations later this year, being the most experienced and longest serving daytime DJ in situ, hopefully reuniting him with faces like Moyles, Cox, Ball, Dave Pearce etc etc

Hopefully some interesting documentaries on the TV surrounding it to watch hopefully presented by Mills - remember Moyles did one and met all the previous breakfast DJs except the ginger one

Love the idea of all the Scott-central stuff, I guess he has been the biggest presenter there throughout Radio 1's entire existence.

Remember a while ago they did the Access All Areas for the DJs (oh how I miss them)? Maybe a similar thing could happen but specifically for Scott as you say for the 50th. I mean, as much as I don't want it to happen, Radio 1's 50th birthday would be a big time to go, given all the nostalgia that will be surrounding it anyway.

I reckon he will definitely be the lead guy over all of it though.

Probably reading too much into it again, but it does seem recently like Scott's had a freer attitude when presenting? Like just been a bit "what the hell" with content and stuff, I'm probably wrong but if you listen to some podcasts from a year or so ago they're a bit different.

    Who knows.

  6. It's actually quite an alright idea.

So on the show today, the idea was raised by Chris to have a snap election at Radio 1 to let the listeners decide where each presenter should go on the radio schedule, (following the stuff that happened this morning).

It's actually quite an intriguing point, and certainly something that could be discussed on these forums, because we've always chatted about who we personally want where in the schedule or who the big bosses at the BBC would like, but what do we think as a listener and nothing else?

Aside from thinking whether Jordan North deserves to be higher up the schedule (which he does) and thinking that Clara's technical side of things isn't as good as Alice's, or whatever, what do we think the Radio 1 listeners would choose?

It does feel a bit like Greg has been acting as if he has nothing to loose atm. There have been a few times when he's said things on air or posted stuff on social media and I've though "the BBC aren't gonna like that". I really hope he's not going anywhere (other than R1 Breakfast ASAP obviously)

What sort of posts/radio comments do you mean?

  8. I'd have thought they'd announce a massive headliner first? Kings of Leon are headlining BST in Hyde Park but R1 Big Weekend is a different matter, like Biffy Clyro only headline In New Music We Trust last year in Exeter and then headlined Reading Festival. (it was awesome)

So Kings of Leon a potential first headliner, but I doubt the massive headline grabbing acts have been revealed yet.

  9. I agree with you there, the 10-1 slot is the time needing interaction the least, however what puts Radio 1 above everyone else is that there is personality and DJs are allowed to express themselves a bit more. So while Clara is fulfilling the brief for her show, it is turning a bit into a commercial station show with short links and just talking about the music.

Alice brought personality and extended interaction but if she could still fit the brief of new music etc then she would be a good replacement for Clara. I don't think Clara can mix enough personality with generic radio to the extent Radio 1 are looking for.
