It is shocking and very tragic. Cumbria is the last place in this country I'd expect something like that to happen. It is shocking that someone could just shoot indiscriminately like that, killing strangers seemingly at random. Killing anybody is shocking but killing complete strangers for no apparent reason is terrible. A few years ago on a university field trip I spent some time in Whitehaven and Seascale. They are such quiet places, especially Seascale. I remember standing on the beach in Seascale and a little shop there and eating fish and chips in Whitehaven. Such a quiet little tourist town, not the kind of place you might expect a shooting spree at all.

Perhaps to make this more interesting, people should have to nominate someone else's list of 10 random songs that they'd most like to be stuck on a desert island with. 1. Well done Alan. You've outdone my achievement I was going to post here. But I'll post it anyway. I won £72 in the lottery something like the 4th lottery ticket I've ever bought as well, and I managed to match 4 numbers somehow just by picking them at random. Not quite the life-changing amount I'd have liked, but it's still more than anyone I know has ever won on the lottery.

We certainly had the "my pet rock" for the "what rocks..." thread. Oh and what sucks in my life is a very annoying allergy-related cough. I sound like a dog, sometimes like a dog barking, sometimes just yapping. My throat hurts too.

What's with those pages people are 'like'ing that actually link to a site outside of Facebook? One of them I clicked on made me involuntarily 'like' it. Another one I clicked on, Avast! warned me about a trojan. I'm having to hover over every 'like' link to check it actually goes to a Facebook page before I click on it.

I don't smoke however I did try it a couple of times, unwisely, while drunk at uni. The first time I just had a quick drag and didn't feel any effects. The second time, in January of last year, I was stressed and decided to deal with it by downing shots and then decided when we left the club that one of my friend's cigarettes would really help. I smoked about half of it before I decided I'd had enough and gave it to some guy who was asking for one. I didn't feel anything at all at the time but in the morning I felt extremely sick with the worst hangover I've ever had, which lasted until about 6pm, and my mouth tasted dry and like ash. So I haven't touched a cigarette since.

My friend has got himself a bunnyboiler girlfriend... she kinda scares me. She'll give me evils but then come over and be all nice. On topic... yeah I probably wouldn't click on the link because I never watch videos people link me to.

My aunt was supposed to be arriving here from New Zealand tomorrow morning but her flight's been cancelled. I think this is an important lesson that we are not more powerful than nature and actually we do not have control over it at all.

I don't like rabbits, to be honest. Cute and fluffy they may be. The people who lived next door to me had 2 rabbits that lived in a hutch and run in one of the rooms in their house. When they were on holiday they asked my sister to feed them. She went round there to feed them but somehow the devious little buggers escaped from their hutch. So she asked me to come and help her catch them again. They were running round this room but there was a lot of furniture around for them to hide behind/under. They were very determined not to be caught. I got badly scratched by them and they broke a bracelet I was wearing. After about 2 hours finally got both of them back in the hutch. Every time I caught one, it would scratch me and wriggle until I let it go. I had a line of scratches up my arms that looked like I'd been self-harming. And that is why I do not like rabbits.

I think if you eat things that are very hot or very cold, they cause the wires to contract. I know the pain you mean. I had those fromage frais things for little kids that come in tubes. I pretty much lived off those when the braces were hurting. I wore the retainers at night for a couple of years afterwards but now my mouth has obstinately gone back to how it was. I wish I'd never been forced to have the bloody things. Oh, and the world sucks.

As someone commented on the Guardian story, even with Jedward headlining, it would be a great weekend. The atmosphere is amazing. Some acts that I already really like and some that I think would be interesting to see. I'm going with 3 friends from uni, it'll be really good to see them again as well.

"I am attracted to my dog" comes up 3rd for me when I type "I am attracted" into Google. Also got "older women" and "older men" but thankfully not "children". Just like to clarify that I don't have a dog and I certainly have never searched for anything about dogs.

Incidentally, while checking how many forums this same thing has been posted on, I found out that typing "I am attracted to" into Google brings up some quite disturbing suggestions.

I feel for you. I found it a horrible experience. My orthodontist was a sadistic bastard though, which didn't help. It is weird at first, and very unpleasant, but you do get used to it, and it is a great feeling when you get them taken off finally. Make sure you don't eat any toffee kind of things when you first get the wires put on, I made that mistake and the wires kept coming out.

I've had Twitter over a year and still not really got the hang of it. People who update their Facebook status with things with @, #tags or retweets really annoy me. It makes absolutely no sense on Facebook and clutters up my feed.

Do we have any professional jockeys on this site? I didn't bet or watch it. I've never placed a bet in my life. Maybe I should add it to my list of things to try some time.

Apparently you can profitably breed them for meat. There's a man in Germany who does that. I read about it somewhere recently. I doubt your children would like that though. Still, it might not be so susceptible to predators, it could fight for itself.

If you re-read what I said, I never state that I have a problem with Rihanna. Only with the music that she releases. I have never heard a song she has sang that I haven't found immensely irritating. Could be the fault of whoever writes songs for her or it could be that her particular brand of 'catchy' registers as 'highly irritating' rather than 'enjoyable' for me.

I hate everything Rihanna has ever done. Hated the first shit I heard from her, have hated everything since. Just thought I'd put that out there... Because of the other thread, I have Robbie Williams - You Know Me, which was mediocre the first time I heard it and after at least 400 times hearing it in the shop, is feckin awful. "Since you went away my heart breaks every day GRRRRRRRR. Time to replace it with something decent.
