Did he not mention recently hes just signed up gain anyway?
Think your right (I think you are a R1 DJ hiding behind an alias.... and if you are WOW love it that I am talking to you on a forum...) Love his show and it appeals to me so much because it hits my age range (I am 37) as well as a good time as I am a shift worker so can usually catch him
Like Greg as well and Grimmy
For me (as I kept tweeting at the 50th) Scott and Greg are the Mike Read and Mayo of my generation
Would love to see Scott cover another stint on breakfast

I think Grimmy isn't going anywhere yet either

Yes the Radio 1 Vintage page should take you to the podcasts.

I'm a bit lost without the station today - feel it could been even bigger than three days. Still I guess it's time to look forward again now!

They're on iTunes and the BBC podcast page - called The Radio 1 Vintage Interviews or something.

I'd argue they've made it more difficult messing about with BBC Three and talking about pooling budgets with Radio 1 (no doubt for further cuts). I'd say the reason I'm still with Radio 1 outside of target audience is 6Music doesn't really speak to me, BBC local radio and Radio 2 are targeting a demographic much older. There was so much focus on targeting the pre-teens but there needs to be a better strategy for 25+ and under 45.

I knew the song but didn't realise it was all to do with St George's Day  I'd forgot about Roy Walker doing about Carpark Catchphrase, tragically! I see he still managed to get some Radio X plugs in there - I wondered if there would be a mention or they'd try to avoid him getting publicity.

Dev was unavailable to cover as he was in Majorica (I think!). Yasser covered his weekend show. Mistajam was much better than Cel Spellman!

I really enjoyed MistaJam covering for Greg particularly on The Official Chart Show. He sounded so slick and it really came across that he was hugely honoured to be hosting the Historic show. Also enjoyed the fact he did his own feature on Thursday between 6-7 replacing the Ten Minute Takeover. It was a way more enjoyable experience than Dev. Perhaps Dev's days are numbered at R1? Or he was just in a can't be arsed to cover again mood (I wouldn't blame him)

Maybe he will become the new weekday DJ if someone moved on? or looking to get him on R1 and someone like Jordan or Cel on 1xtra
Hes been on R1 xtra for some years, maybe they are trying him for a new breakfast or drive host
Maybe just that Dev is busy?

    Interesting article here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-40431793
But I think Ben Cooper is being a bit disingenuous. It's not that there isn't a pool of talent available - it's that he isn't fully tapping into it. There are tons of people on commercial radio who'd do a decent job on Radio 1, but Ben Cooper never seems to commit. Look at the way Jordan North has been deppping for the best part of 2 1/2 years without a full time show. Pete Allison as well was a missed opportunity. I also dislike the way he talks about casually plucking people off TV as an easy way of recruiting.

Interesting article. It's a fair point about syndication and cuts to local commercial radio and that the likes of T4, MTV live shows etc aren't around anymore and they often had young talent to choose from. However, there are still plenty of young, talented, passionate presenters out there to choose from. They took a risk with Greg James- got him to cover Sara Cox the day after he graduated! There's got to be some brilliant talent from student radio they should nurture and develop. Same with commercial radio- recruit young talent from local or regional stations who have potential. Only if they're good enough of course.
He's brought in Clara Amfo, Jordan North and Adele Roberts (from 1Xtra) in recent years but it seems like way more could be done. Getting Rylan to cover seemed like desperation, as did Cel Spellman getting a show (he's not awful and yes, he's a big CBBC name but will never be weekday material IMO and a 20 year old from student radio who has natural radio talent should be given a chance instead).
One name I'd keep an eye out for- Riyadh Khalaf. He's been doing BBC3 documentaries, has a huge YouTube following and presented on a radio station in Dublin as well as being an entertainment reporter. Wouldn't be surprised to see him doing some weekend cover in the coming months.

Love the montage! Really pleased they're going all out on the 50th celebrations, the digital station is a brilliant idea. Surprised Scott wasn't included but I suppose he's still a current presenter. Would've liked to see Nick Grimshaw & Annie Mac from the Switch days on the line-up and Reggie Yates & Fearne Cotton rather than just Fearne considering Reggie was on both R1 and 1Xtra for so long and they were a great pairing (Fearne's best days were with Reggie).
Regarding Moyles, it would've looked ridiculous and petty if they didn't include him (longest serving breakfast presenter and all that)- also, it's nothing to do with Global. Radio 1 own all of The Chris Moyles Show content and it'll all still be on their systems somewhere.
Hope Live Lounge Month is a bit different to usual. Would also love Annie Mac to do some shows reflecting on the new acts Radio 1 have broken early on in their careers over the years. A countdown of the best 50 songs Radio 1 has played over the 50 years would be amazing too. Put out a shortlist of 100 and people can vote on the website. Count it down on the last Thursday in September- Scott doing 50-26 from 1-4pm and then Greg doing an Official Chart Special revealing the Number 1 before 5:45.

I agree with this to a point - I do think, on average, the quality of presenters and features has declined over recent years. Scott has stayed pretty good, best thing on Radio 1 by a country mile, but what he's doing now isn't quite as good as what he was doing ten years ago. But hey - if he was still doing the same thing he was doing ten years ago, he wouldn't be on air anymore. I also think Greg James peaked in 2014-15 and is audibly putting less effort into the show than he used to (I blame Ian for this, I think Pippa was fantastic and she's totally wasted on X), but do I feel like my personal connection with them has been eroded - not really.
I also think weekends are the best they've been in years - back in 2011/12, it was the pretty meh line up of Edith, Vernon/Sara (I liked Sara), Huw and Reggie, and then Gemma Cairney, Vernon/Sara, Huw and Danny Howard/Jameela. I remember vividly Edith doing a feature when she would just try and say as names as possible over the Pick of the Pops music and talking about films ad nauseam. Yawn. Vernon had the bloody maths question, Huw was not suited to daytime, and we all know my thoughts on Gemma. Weekends were DIRE. Nowadays - Dev doing original (if bizzare, but very entertaining) features, Matt Edmondson with his games and viral interviews, Alice Levine who's a laugh, Danny Howard who isn't my cup of tea but I'm sure does a good show, the only weak link is Cel Spellman. Weekends have never sounded this good.
Oh, and Radio 2 - I listened to Steve Wright in the Afternoon yesterday, but I got confused for a second, I thought it was the audio version of the newspaper. Genuinely, all I heard yesterday was Steve playing his jingles, reading out the email address and reading stories and "factoids" out of the papers. Give me Scott and Greg anyday.

Leaving personal politics of me finding Edmonson an utter utter prick, he should work TWO DAYS a week. Nick works five.
Therefore, even if Nick has had 20 days off, he has not worked for just 5.5% of his allocated show time.
Matt would have not worked for 13.4% of his allocated show time.
    ______
As a separate note, I feel as though Radio 1 is becoming rapidly sanitised and Capital-like. The personal connection between listener and presenter as presented by Moyles, Fearne, Greg and Scott has been totally ruined by Amfo and the awful weekend line-up, which leaves literally not a single moment of desirable radio across the whole weekend.
So, if you were to ask me if holiday leave was too generous in 2011/2012, I'd say, yes, we love the presenters and hearing them leave disrupts our schedules / feels weird.
Frankly, that point no longer remains. People just don't care enough anymore.
    I'm off to Radio 2.

I highly doubt Moyles would be involved. For a start, he does the breakfast show on another station (if he's still on by then) so I doubt the BBC would want to promote that, even if it might help get rid of their older listeners.
Plus, Chris has mentioned how there's a bit of bad blood between him and Radio 1 - he says the only person from Radio 1 who stayed in touch with him (apart from Dom, Pippa and Aled I guess) was Westwood, who himself was binned off not long after. Plus there's the constant Scott Mills jibes (and Chris said on air a few times that he's weird) and it basically looks like he alienated a lot of people at Radio 1 - which was fine when he was doing the most successful breakfast show they've ever had, but less so now. There's also the way Radio 1 like to pretend that he never happened - I don't expect them to mention him every day, or even very often at all, but even straight after he left it was like he'd ceased to exist, and there are sometimes jokes at his expense without his name being mentioned. I think Greg genuinely admires him, but the rest seem to think he's an arse. So that's why I think a Moyles appearance at Radio 1's 50th is unlikely.
Some people have suggested that because they're still futilely trying to lower the average age of the listeners, they won't acknowledge the birthday at all, or if they do, they'll do it in a very low key way.

I'd ideally rather Grimmy stop on Breakfast and Scott and Greg where they are, as I'm more likely to listen in the afternoon.
Still would love something special for Radio 1's 50th, archive recordings, chats with past DJ's etc. They did it well I thought in 2007 with the 40th. I imagine some DJ's would be easier to get involved than others, Sara Cox, Mark Radcliffe, Steve Wright, Simon Mayo would probably be up for something. Not so much DLT, Marc Riley or Chris Moyles I'd imagine.

Actually, I think Diane Abbott would be great on the chart - "and now a new entry at number 72, which means it's the biggest selling single in the UK this week, it's Liar Liar. I'll play you the number 23 after that, and we'll run down the top 10-36".

I think Newsbeat should be rebranded The Sun and the biased BBC should stop being so damn scared and replace Ben Cooper with that nice Rupert Murdoch fella - it's time things were shaken up a bit.
Playlist to consist of just the national anthem and football chants.
Change the station logo to a 1 that slants right rather than left.
The public have spoken and it's time to respect their wishes.

No it's not fake news. It's just my prediction. With Radio 1 heading into it's Golden Year in September. Me thinks they will be having a re-Think.
If so the bosses plans are already set in stone with the Line-up knowing there places.
So I do believe it's time for Gregory James for Brekkie with a straight swap with Grimshaw.
Also feel it could be promotions time for the likes of Matt Edmondson and Alice Levine.
Sad news would be people leaving aswell. Dev is more than likely to be the first victim.

So what's everyone's thoughts on what may or may not happen?

There definitely needs to be a bit of a shakeup. I would go for something along the lines of:
    04:00 - Jordan North
    06:30 - Greg James
    10:00 - Alice Levine
    13:00 - Matt Edmondson
16:00 - Scott Mills & Chris Stark (doubt they would be moved back, but they are still by far the best show at the station and if Scott is to leave R1 over the next few years, but him back on drivetime for his final bit)
19:00 - Annie Mac (or MistaJam. Enjoyed his cover)
Grimmy and Clara's shows I just find a bit stale and dull. Give Greg a chance now at breakfast and Chris Smith moving to doing the news in the morning and being an essential part of Greg's show. I think, judging by the article the other day, Tina is planning on moving on quite soon - I will miss her though.
Radio 1 in general at the minute I think needs a change. It will never be the years of Moyles, Whiley, Coxy, Zane Lowe etc. again, but it always sounded fresh and had a lot of personality then and did things differently - time to bring a bit of that back. And find some new "radio" people who really have a passion for radio, instead of CBBC presenters...

This would be my ideal Weekday Schedule:
    Breakfast - Greg James
    Mid Morning - Alice Levine
    Early Afternoon - Matt Edmondson
    Drivetime - Scott Mills
I know the chances of that happening are very very minimal. Grimmy is just not interesting and neither is Clara, they could probably go on Breakfast and Mid Morning weekend I guess.
