  1. Not Anna, she's unfortunately not got a great voice for it. I think the Welsh guy's pretty good.
  2. genuine laughter, you are funny. It's been suggested (yes, on DigitalSpy) that co-hosts have been split (think - Mark & Lard, Fearne & Reggie, Twin & Yasmin) over the past because the BBC has to pay double high figure salaries (although not so much on 1Xtra), so for this perfectly plausible reason, I think perhaps co-hosting would be bad. And, I think Alice is... meh. I think we should give Gemma Cairney a go at the breakfast show, the bosses seem to love her after reducing her hours from weekend breakfast, to weekday early breakfast, to "The Surgery". Realistically, I think Alice isn't going to get a stint on breakfast, but I think Nick needs some kind of co-host other than Fiona, as I can understand that the show is getting stale. #bringbackmoyles
  3. I think it's probably going to be either Huw, Phil or (heaven forbid) HI GUYS IT'S BTRAITS ON BBC RADIO 1 COVERING FOR ANNIEE MAC! GET IN TOUCH 8-1-1-9-9 WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THIS RECORD BY UPCOMING PRODUCER CALVIN HARRIS? YESSS! Likelihood is that it's Huw, as he's pretty natural and I could see him taking over the slot from Annie IF he isn't taken to 6Music by then.
  4. I've been reading some DigitalSpy radio chat, and the general consensus is that it's unlikely that Nick will be replaced in September, because he is scaring away the old people (but failing to bring new youngsters in, as he's become less popular). Let's envisage that scenario - what would Radio 1 need to do to make its breakfast show more successful? Here's what I think they should do, for what it's worth. 1 - Bring back Matt Fincham, because the show was far stronger with him and more entertaining 2 - Introduce some new, more intelligent radio features 3 - Use Snapchat more, because Ben Cooper seems to think all of Radio 1's listeners are now permanently glued to Snapchat 4 - Reintroduce the opening bed and get better audio branding generally 5 - Use the show's branding more visibly across the BBC 6 - Advertise across the BBC, including on Radio 1, as it being "The Radio 1 Breakfast Show, fresher than ever before" or something similar. 7 - Include callers on the show more regularly 8 - Nick to do some actual work pre and post show to make it the best it can possibly be Thoughts?
  5. Hi everyone! You've all treated me really well since I joined this forum around two years ago. I feel really honoured to be part of such a friendly, kind like-minded people. Here's something I'm doing that I think might be of interest. I'm holding a 24 hour radio show for Amnesty International with my friend Luke. We're going live for 24 hours at fundfox.co.uk on the 26th August at 7pm (BST). Please listen and share with friends and family! You might like the show, you might hate it. I'm very nervous that I won't be up to scratch but with some deep breaths and some entertaining content, I should be fine. That's all - thanks very much! x
  6. I know the one you're talking about, but sadly I don't have a clean copy. If you're after something similar, you might find something (or stumble across the original bed) from Emergency Production Music, theimagingcloud, sometimes even the YouTube Audio Library has some decent music in there!
  7. This forum is getting more and more obsessed with audio branding, and I for one love it. If you wouldn't mind me asking, what times are they played out? Would be interesting to know.
  8. Enjoy Scott and Chris' opening - it's effortlessly brilliant. They have clearly prepared things to say, engage with their audience well. A severe lack of 1Tros on the show today which was a shame, and the 2012 VOs sound dated and messy (as discussed before, I'm sure a "with Scott Mills" won't cost too much to be voiced up). Hate to be the one to say it - but I'm not sure that they're actually suited to breakfast. Something about them doesn't scream "breakfast radio" at me, and I'm not sure what that is. Also nice to hear Simon Munday & Chris Smith with the news (pun intentional), but nothing beats Tina.
  9. Doing a 24 hour radio show for Amnesty International on the 26th August! Tune in at fundfox.co.uk from 7pm BST - and PLEASE spread th word!

  10. I've seen a lot of criticism on Twitter about that, and when they're cut down they do sound incredibly "clunky". Any ideas why, aside from just to fit more music in?
  11. Fo' shizzle. There's no way that the likes of Cairney will stay where they are, and I'm sure there'll be some night changes too. I think breakfast, drive & Annie Mac are safe for now in BC's eyes. The rest I'm sure are under scrutiny.
  12. Crikey, Ryan's really going for it isn't he. I couldn't really care less about theories. When it comes into play on Radio 1, then I'll make comment. But, sidenote, 2012 was my favourite time for idents and jingles on BBC Radio 1. Nick's show had some awesome idents. The Scottish voiceovers should be binned now pls.
  13. Another note - I think Matt Edmonson is genuinely a novice. He's not a presenter, he's boring and embarrassing, hence why he's on one of the most middle-of-the-road slots on Radio 1. His future is probably early breakfast on KISS or something. But please, God, do not let him anywhere near the daytime schedule if the schedule is to be shaken up in Sept.
  14. Up until this point, I agree with everything you have said on this forum. Will Manning is a commercial boy, and forever will be. His show is full of banal shit he's found on Twitter. Just like every other Capital show, really - forced happiness, really short links to the point where they may aswell not even be called "presenters". And Pete Allison? Meh. He's the best of the worst.
  15. Hi, Anyone got any more? If OP could make another montage that would be awesome
  16. Really hope she stays. It sounds stupid, but she's an excellent newsreader, very versatile and funny. She's been on the breakfast show for longer than Chris Moyles!
  17. Hey all, Dev's covering for Greg today, and Huw's on from 6pm for Independence day. In celebration, Radio 1 are to play non-stop independent labels for ten hours (the times where the fewest are listening and it's considered "specialist"). http://radiotoday.co.uk/2016/07/bbc-radio-1-to-play-non-stop-independent-labels/?utm_source=MadMimi&utm_medium=email&utm_content=Magic+Radio+launches+Magic+Soul+Summer+on+DAB+-+24+hours+with+Wise+Buddah+Jingles&utm_campaign=20160701_m132475047_24+hours+UK&utm_term=BBC+Radio+1+to+play+non-stop+independent+labels
  18. Some of it's very slick! I can't remember hearing anything, I was too engrossed with the visual FX! They really do put a package together, no wonder it's so expensive... Love the spinny wheel on the 1, and the speaker (but it's a bit obvious), but the logo obscures some of the video. Love that they're getting rid of the godawful Scottish peeps. ** STILL AFTER THE NAMES OF THOSE VOICEOVERS!! **
  19. Yeah, they whacked the new voiceovers over the top. This is all exciting! Ayy! Anyone got deets on voiceover names?
  20. I'm fully aware of the BBC's intentions to bring a diverser range of people to the forefront of programmes and shows, the shit newspapers (Sun & Mail) were only recently screaming headlines of "THE BBC IS WHITE! NO WHITE? NO JOB (PLUS SEE KERRY FROM YORK'S SICK TITS ON PAGE 3 #ladz). But, Clara, to my knowledge, wasn't recruited for being "black" - she was originally on Kiss, then snapped up by Radio 1Xtra, worked her way up there and then to Radio 1. No malicious intent, no skin colour being brought in.
  21. I know this is your first post, but Paul, this isn't how stuff works on this forum - while you make valid and in my eyes, probably true, points on other presenters, especially Nightingale, bringing someone's race into an equation based on their personality could be seen as racist. While I assume this was unintentional, Radio 1 won't employ someone of a minority purely based on that fact - commenting on it is really rather unacceptable in my eyes. I'd be interested to see whether my response would be of a similar nature to @Jono
  22. Bumping this because I'm doing a 24 hour radio show this year, and need them to send across to our producers for inspo. Please help!
  23. Also interesting to note is that the iPlayer Radio logo is now all-white - the colour, I'm not typing in Danny Dyer speech
  24. Started an ignored thread on this the day it was released. It lacks imagination, the logos look odd and it doesn't fit with the BBC header as well. All shows have lost individual personality, and we can only see the last three songs played. I feel like it works well for BBC Local stations, but R1 & 1Xtra needs special attention on their web presence if they want to stay ahead of the crowd. Monitoring the Twitter response to it; seems overwhelmingly positive.
  25. Well, looks like Radio 1 have decided to turn their website into the BBC homepage. I have recently been thinking R1 could do with a new site, but not this hideous mess. While the old site had personality and was fresh and intuitive, looks like this site update wasn't well thought through. Thoughts, anyone?
