ATTENTION: It's not much but right at the end of the first 45 minutes of Greg and Clara's show today, they went to Newsbeat when they weren't supposed to, which means the clean headline bed is there for the taking. Newsbeat was a total disaster today actually - it was abandoned and started again at 1pm.

I dunno, I quite like it. If they did a full 40+ minute podcast every day they'd pile up and I'd never listen to them, whereas this is manageable. But yeah, a weekly podcast would achieve largely the same thing. I'm really looking forward to his podcast with Chris Smith whenever that arrives.

Ooh, good topic! I think the answer is no, for the reasons you said. I think at times it sounds a bit like the Chris Stark show - Chris is the personality whilst Scott is just there to facilitate. Not all of the time, definitely not - they're great together. But Scott definitely reveals a lot less about his life than he used to, and Chris has filled that gap. But now he's married with a child he himself is getting a bit too mature for Radio 1. Another thing I think helped prolong Scott's Radio 1 career was the timing and nature of his demotion. If he hadn't been moved when he was, he'd either have been on drivetime for 14 years (unlikely) or on weekends or gone completely. After eight years he'd probably taken drive as far as he could (as great as it was) so giving him a new daytime show to start from scratch gave him a new lease of life imo.

I was thinking the exact same actually! No doubt Greg's been listening to some classic Moyles for inspiration.

Radio 1's Indie Show is an interesting name - it ties in with the discussion on the other thread about how the playlist and chart has evolved over the years. It's sidelining the genre in the same way as rap or drum and bass - having one specific show dedicated to it (albeit three nights a week) as opposed to the more general new music show it has been in the past. Then again, I can't see indie being completely cut out from Annie Mac's Monday-Thursday show. As chuffed as I am for Jack who's a really good presenter, I don't quite understand the reason for the change - Huw's been doing a great job, finally on a show that suits his talents (unlike his three years on weekends). And it's not a diversity thing either - they're replacing one straight white male with another. I don't really see where Jack could end up in future - unless they give him the Grimmy treatment and move him to daytime in a few years this is probably the only show he'll ever do. Except maybe replace Annie Mac when the time comes. It's similar to Zane really - both poached from X to do a new music show, albeit 15 years apart.

I think today's caller on Yesterday's Quiz got confused and thought it was Wronguns...

Maybe he figured it was unnecessary - it was really just a hangover from The Chris Moyles Show, Dom used to do it so I guess Tina picked it up from him. The only thing slightly negative I'd say so far (and it's a micropoint, I LOVE the new show) is that I don't think the chemistry between Greg and Roisin Hastie is that great. Obviously they'll never be like Greg and Chris Smith but still, I don't think she adds much considering she's the only team member Greg's properly interacted with so far. Great newsreader, obviously, which is why she's there - but outside of that, she doesn't seem to have much to offer personality wise. Yet, at least. Oh, and he doesn't always do accurate timechecks. That annoys me a tad. But this really is nitpicking.

I'm not sure why but I have a feeling Rage will be reappearing. What's My Age Again was very much something he did with Chris Smith (apart from the last two weeks) so I reckon that one won't return.

The 8:10 slot seems to be where the weekly features go - Monday is Unpopular Opinions and Tuesday is the return of Ask the Nation! That one hasn't been on for a long time.

I had a listen for a while, it was actually really good! They had a really good rapport considering they've never really broadcast together before. I might even go as far as saying they're better together than Matt and Chris were... I think personality wise they're a much better match.

That stopped on the afternoon show a while back. I'm not sure why, after he made a big song and dance about bringing them back when they brought back Record of the Week.

They've dropped the That's What He Said name, then. Maybe they'll use that for the new podcast with him and Chris Smith instead.

I've noticed from the photos that they've changed the studio a little bit - there's a thing around the station logo that looks like the website background.

I wonder if this concerns the Red Arrows? Or some kind of explosion.

Can anyone else hear little bits of songs incorporated into the main theme? I've heard High Hopes by Panic!, Paradise by Coldplay and Shotgun by George Ezra. Or am I crazy.
