At long last!
Very different to the previous site - in terms of R1 content they've put up the Official Chart main theme, aswell as a few Moyles bits and pieces.
-
The last update from Pure Tonic Media was January 2011. Nothing more after that. Basically they created updates in August/Sep/Oct/Nov/Dec 2010 and January 2011, then it all suddenly stopped....
-
New female voice; sounds very good on the Newsbeat imaging. Will give some other shows a listen later on today.
-
Anyone heard the 'New Sound of BBC Radio 1' promo? Sounding extremely likely we'll hear the new package on 2nd April.
Yeah, heard that on Moyles' show this morning. It sounds like a very upbeat package, but I can't really say much as I've only heard a few seconds of it when I was half-asleep!
-
He's doing really well, it's worth a listen. Very impressed.
-
It's probably part of their imaging updates; they're in the process of comissioning a new station-wide imaging package.

Here's the Chart Show one aswell. No idea on who made it though!

Holly has been the female voice since October 2008(!), while David or whatever the male voice is called has been on since June 2009.

I have no idea either! A new package of beds was introduced around April/May ish - along with a new package of idents and talk ramps for weekends, e.g 'Weekends on BBC Ra di oh h h h ONE'. These are created with some Pure Tonic imaging
-
That's a very good point! I can always remember having a news reader aswell as a sports reader.
-
The current ones have been on air since January 2010
-
They're slighlty growing on me though...
I've liked them from the minute I heard them!

Newsbeat 2011 - End Logo.mp3Here's the sonic logo from the package.

When Tina was reading the top story in a serious tone of voice this morning it just didn't sound right.
Although I can't help feeling that aswell! The news headlines and news main bed are pretty much the same (if not exactly the same?)
I couldn't really give an opinion on sports bed, as it was played far too quietly.
I like the weather, aswell as the mid-news 'BBC Radio 1,... Newsbeat' stab. That part works better than before.
The news out though, is too abrupt. They should have just added more reverb.
I haven't listened to one of the 12.45/5.45 bulletins yet, but I aim to do so soon.
Overall, I'm really impressed!
The R1 Newsbeat 4-note sonic logo has been used since January 2005. The 2003 package was created by David Lowe (creater of BBC News music), and this was reflected in the package. 2004 was a refresh by the Station Sound team. Everything from 2005 was created by Music4. The 2005 package was used until January 2007. The package that was on air a few days ago was a remix of the 2007 package, created in January 2009.

I absolutely love them. They're completely different, and I love the new sound. Moyles spent long time thismorning discussing them.
-
Compared to previous Newsbeat packages, which had around about 40 cuts, this seems like a relatively small package:
Also, with the 1Xtra versions, surely, that must make it difficult at weekends, if each station uses a seperate news bed? E.g. you may hear both the R1+1Xtra beds at the same time, or no bed at all. Or it may not be technically possible.
-
This is my absolute favorite song of this year, absolutely love it!
-
They are probably losing the logo so that it fits in more seamlessly at weekends with the 1Xtra news bed!
I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case!
-
At last!
Looking forward to hearing them. I wonder who created them though...
I wonder if this will change the voiceovers aswell. The male voice has been used since June 2009, Holly (female voice), has been on since October 2008!
-
We had a similar discussion last year, this is my best effort!
It was all recorded last year, and uses various clips, and does have some of Reggie's voice on it.
The package was produced by Wise Buddah.

I do, but I think it would give away the name of the company that made all the older imaging beds!
-
Do you have this or is it on the M4 website as i cant seem to see it there?
No, I meant they added that to the Moyles package, not very clear I know!
-
I had never heard it before so it was new for me
Same! He used to use a more rocked-up bed.
-
^^ Those are some short talk ramps, I love them! They have about 30 seconds of a bed, and then a Pure Tonic dry trigger ending.
-
Hi All
It obviously hasn't gone unnoticed that the station have been introducing new talk beds over the past few weeks. I really like what I've heard, see some demos attached. At weekends, there are even out of news talk ramps!
See some demos attached, possibly all the threads about new talk beds could be merged into one?
-
I do have the bed you're after (I think!) I'm almost 100% sure it came from the '2008 Generic Beds' package, which was almost certainly composed by Music4.
Here's a short sample
Possible new Newsbeat bed on the way?

Doubt it's a legit Radio 1 package - partly as anyone can buy it (commissioned packages are owned by the BBC and are never available for resale) and also the fact it's £9.99!!
Spelling is terrible on that site too.
