  1. Hi, Radio 1 use software from 'VCS', a foreign company. They make the cartwall software/ standard 'On-Air Control' software and other bits and pieces used across the BBC. However, sign up to this site, and you can get software like they use on Radio 1, for free if approved! https://www.mairlist.com/en/index.php Well worth a look. It does take 1-3 days to approve your licence application though.
  2. John, I totally agree with you.
  3. I'm sure since that 'Dubstep' takeover the other week, Radio 1 has started playing more 'dubstep'/black music genres, (e.g. 'Nero - Me And You') Is it me, or is it copying 1Xtra's slogan ' Xtra RnB, Xtra Hip-Hop' Unless that's what BBC bosses are trying to do? http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/playlist/ http://www.bbc.co.uk/1xtra/playlist/ There's a lot more '1Xtra' style music in there, such as 'Jessie J' and 'Rihanna' The two playlists are very similar...
  4. Download a sound editor (Audacity/Wavepad etc) 1) Turn stereo mix on (see web for how) 2) Turn down the master volume to about 20-30, or else the recording will sound distorted! 3) Press record 4) Done:) For recording, I would recommend Wavepad, as it records in Stereo, and you can change the bit-rate from 8-320 kbps.
  5. Would love it myself! I have Christmas jingles from previous years
  6. Quite a good set of lists up there

  16. Surely, Holly must leave the station soon? She's been the female station voice since October 2008, unless they're going to keep her until the end of the PureTonic contract, as she's on all the PureTonic stuff in one way or another. Anyone able to confirm this/know what will happen?
  17. Didn't think of that... oh well, and Jono, I have hundreds of newsbeat cuts!

  21. Thanks for that link Tyler1994!
  22. The AAA stuff was composed back in September 2009, and just had some minor resings for this year. Love the sound of the Moyles AAA theme though. I think they also composed the AAA 2009 themes and talk beds for the entire station to promote AAA too, as one cut has the 4 note sonic logo.
  23. Yep, you're right. The vast majority of audio is played from the truck. Chris has a few 'basic' faders, so he selects audio, plays some himself, but normally, I think he presses the button, Will in the truck gets a 'notification', and fades it up himself. I could be wrong, but there are plenty of technical people on here that will probably know!
