StevieFM's Achievements

  1. Tulip is indeed going to Pakistan - it's not a holiday though, she's working there for the next 5 months or so. Chris Smith is taking over as the main Newsbeat presenter in her absence. As well as Chris, Newsbeat will also have a few guest presenters over the next few weeks who will present for a couple of days each. Anthony Baxter, Ben Mundy, Dan Whitworth, Amy Gladwell, Sima Kotecha, Steve Holden and Jim Taylor are all going to be presenting Newsbeat programmes this month.
  2. Also - the voiceovers aren't changing, it's still the same male & female voice that Radio 1 currently have. There will still be a logo - but a different one from the current one. "Digital FM Online" will be replaced by "Listen Watch Share".
  3. For anyone who's interested, the new Newsbeat jingles package is produced by a company called Koink. They're on Twitter: @koink
  4. She's covering for Fearne all week though (Mon-Fri), seems fair enough to give her the Sunday off.
  5. Slightly tweaked and updated schedule for 3rd May: 7am - 10am - Pete Tong 10am - 1pm - Kissy Sellout 1pm - 4pm - Annie Mac 4pm - 7pm - Judge Jules 7pm - 9pm - Zane & Mistajam
  6. I agree with everything you just said.
  7. Just to clarify: Tina will present the Newsbeat porgramme today (23rd March) as a one-off. She'll then present Newsbeat for two weeks starting from Tuesday the 6th of April while Tulip does breakfast.
  8. Yeah, I completely agree. I used to have a lot of time for N-Dubz but this has sent my respect for them through the floor.
  9. I really don't mean to stick up for N-Dubz here because I agree that Dappy is an idiot for doing this. However, the txt she sent in was a hell of a lot more than a criticism of his music. The Daily Mail said that she simply sent in a txt which said that she didn't like their new song. In actual fact, the txt was a foul-mouthed rant which labelled Dappy 'Vile', 'Repulsive' and a 'Bork' amongst other things. It was a positively nasty txt and I'm not surprised it provoked a reaction in Dappy as she's a really nasty piece of work. Be careful of the Daily Mail, I really wouldn't take for granted everything they say. They are guilty of selective journalism - making her look the innocent victim when in fact the txt she sent into Radio 1 could just as easily have been classed as bullying as Dappy's reply. Remember there's two sides to every story. Not that anyone would guess that if they only read the Daily Mail.
  10. Comedian and presenter Tom Deacon is joining BBC Radio 1 to present a new Sunday night show, it has been announced today. Tom, 23, will host a show from 7.00 to 9.00pm as part of a reshuffle of Radio 1's Sunday night schedule. An award-winning stand-up comedian, Tom has also presented The 5:19 Show on BBC Switch since September 2008. The programme transmits live every weekday at 5:19pm on bbc.co.uk/switch and on Saturday afternoons on BBC Two – and his new radio show will take on the same name. Tom says: "I'm really excited to have my own 5:19 Show on Radio 1, I just can't wait to get in the studio and start having fun!" Tom's new show will be part of a collection of programmes on a Sunday night that will be known as the Switch Zone – kicking off with the Chart Show with Reggie Yates at 4.00pm and running through until midnight. Tom will be followed at 9.00pm by The Surgery With Aled – the station's weekly social action programme. In a new hour-long slot, The Surgery With Aled will have increased speech content and offer an intensive one-stop shop for teens looking for help and advice on a range of subjects at a more accessible time. Nick Grimshaw and Annie Mac move from their current Sunday show (7.00-10.00pm) into a later slot (10.00pm-12midnight), promising a programme packed full with great music and guests. Radio 1's Chart Show with Reggie Yates continues to air on Sundays from 4.00 to 7.00pm, counting down to the UK's new official number one. Ben Cooper, Deputy Controller, BBC Radio 1, says: "Tom has been doing a fantastic job with Switch so I'm really pleased to bring him to Radio 1 and his new show means we are strengthening our relationship with Switch even further. "Our Sunday line-up offers something for all of our younger audiences, from a newly-refocused Surgery, which will be able to react quicker to the stories that are affecting our young audiences every week, to the UK's only official Chart Show with Reggie Yates, and an exciting new going-to-bed show with Nick and Annie." The new line-up for Sunday evenings starts on Sunday 28 March 2010. Radio 1 announced last week that Matt Edmondson, 24, has joined the station to appear on Fearne Cotton's show every Friday, reporting on all the latest entertainment news, as well as deputising for presenters when they are off. http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pressreleases/stories/2010/01_january/15/tom.shtml
