  1. Its definitly not gonna be easy to listen to the last few shows. Listening to this weeks when I've been getting up has felt very odd. Obviously we all knew it would come to and end but the realisation that this time next week Chris, Dave, Dom, Tina and Aled on the breakfast show will be no more will definitly be setting in for a lot of people. Its true thats been said by others in the past, although the vast majority of us have never met any of the team, nor are we ever likely to, they are part of a routine and we've got to know various things about them. They aren't gonna be there any more, and to many it is going to feel like saying bye to a friend. Lord Sugar I think was right yesterday when he said Chris has something up his sleeve, he's not gonna be disappearing completely overnight. I'm also sure I heard Aled saying something to Dev about it not being the end of Chris so I really do hope they have him doing something although I could only really see it being a weekend show when he's finished with his Jesus stuff. I'd try and record the shows but I don't have a freeview+ box and I'm working earlies all next week anyway. If anyone is able to do it and get them onto something like Rapidshare then please do, there will be a lot of very grateful people out there.
  2. Knockhill was a bit of a mixed bag really, Saturday afternoon it was fairly pish and I called it a day a bit before I wanted to. Sunday was a lot better, apart from a very breif shower it was mainly a lot of sunny spells. Viv, Knockhill is a racing circuit in the countryside not far from Dunfermline.
  3. My brother may be moving abroad, or perhaps London. Not enjoying his job and he's been offered trails to play rugby semi professionally. London wouldn't be too bad because its still in the UK so I could make random visits when I have time off but abroad would be very unlikely for me. Not convinced London would be a good idea for him though, I genuinely think he'd go mad down there.
  4. On a different note, went to see the the Dark Knight Rises last night. I've written a letter to Warner Brothers on my Facebook asking for them to reimburse me the 2 and a half of my hours I wasted infront of the screen
  5. I don't believe its all down to these supposidly evil bankers. Personally I think its down to a multitude of things, yes the banks have played their part, governments will have to shoulder the blame as well but then we also have the public at large who thus far appear to have got away without having to take much responsibility for this. I also happen to believe the media are responsible as well for scaremongering and changing peopels mentality which is what has lead us down this path. Everyone wants things cheaper and cheaper, so we're not willing to spend money on something if we think we can get it for less somewhere. Shops lose business and close as a result, ok granted someone might not have a massive amount of money to spend but it is still a contributing factor as far as I'm concerned. We're also holding onto our money more, I am certainly not innocent in that either, and because we're holding onto it its not moving around. The benefits system in my opinion has also had an influence in all of this as well, but I have a feeling my feelings on that wouldn't go down well so for the time being I shall avoid that. Compensation culture has to be given a mention here as well, I was talking to the flatmate about this only yesterday. We are sort of opposed to eachothers ideas politically, she is more socialist and I am anything but. However we both agreed that we are now living in a society which thinks that if something happens to them then someone must be held to account and they should be compensated for it, seemingly no matter how trivial. For example there was once a time when if someone walked into a shop and purchased a hot apple pie, and then burnt their mouth on it they were considered idiots for not using their common sense, not now though! Now we have signs and labels on everything because there was someone once who decided it wasnt their fault, they didnt need to use common sense and they should be compensated, and worryingly they clearly won! It is hard to describe how angry I get when I hear bankers being blamed for the state of the economy. "Why?" I hear you ask, well the answer is my Dad. He has been working for a bank since before I was even born. He is a banker, he is not a theif. He does his job as best he can to contribute to them functioning and clearly he is good at it as its been the same bank literally the entire time. Does he deserve to have people calling him, or people like him, a theif etc or blaming them for the state of the world economy? No, no he doesn't. Sometimes I'll make a joke with him about being overpaid or being a part timer if he's off on a bank holiday, but it is never EVER meant seriously. Yes the banking industry has to take some responsibility for the state of the global ecomony, but like I say, its not as if the general public is innocent in all of this either.
  6. The festival is well under way but the weather is either too pish or unpredictable for me to be bothered seeing much of the street stuff unless I'm on a break at work. Hopefully it'll improve before the end of the month though. 4 shows seen already.
  7. aaaaaah your mum's a perv
  8. Tell me, was the telephone operators name George? and did he have a Ugandan accent? and did he ask for your bank account details and sort code? and did he say "this is totally innocent sir"?
  9. I'm getting shorter shifts at work now as I've "moved up" to double deckers. Gonna actually be able to have a life again after almost a year of 10/11/12 hour shifts 5 or 6 days a week. Just in time for the festival as well, eeeeeeeeeexcellent.
  10. Oh bloody hell what has my original post started this time?! Clearly certain people have a problem with dating sites because they've had bad experiences themselves, but personally I see them simply as a way to meet people you wouldn't otherwise have ever come across. I've come into contact with a arseholes, and yes there are people on these sites that basically use them to find sex, men and women alike. However if you're careful there is no reason to fear them or to think they're full of psychos. I approach them with a sensible head, hence why I was wary of this person who I was speaking to. People are just as capable of being liars and fake if you meet them in a bar, online is no different. You can and do find love online, contrary to the nonsense that Viv said a couple pages back. I actually know of someone who met their other half on a site and they are getting married next year I think. After reading what else Viv said about going out for the evening and getting into conversation with people, my response would be I can't/won't for several reasons. Firstly I am actually exceptionally shy around women I don't know, I talk absolute shite and more often than not just end up making myself look like an arse, combined with the fact that by my own admission I'm not a good looking guy and being rejected constantly can be rather depressing. Secondly there is the fact that I'm doing pretty long shifts at work still so don't really have the time or energy to be going out again after having been working all day. I need time to go home and relax.
  11. Got speaking to someone on a dating site at the start of the week, biut I'm struggling to decide if shes genuine or someone who made a fake profile taking the piss out of random guys. If it is genuine I am one very lucky guy that she gave me the time of day but I'm a little suspicious.
  12. Now I can sort of understand them not wanting competitors logos etc on them but I happen to know of a guy who had unbeliebably horrible dietry requirements as a kid, no idea if he still has them, but he had to have everything made at home specifically for him so where to people like that stand? they can't have things made by the sponsors so its not really fair. Taste and desency should be a factor in clothing but nothing more than that. If this was anything other than the Olympics people would be pissing themselves laughing at the awesome stupidity of the rules. Tits with holes in them.
  13. To an extent this is true yes, but some networks have blocks on anything is considers to be for an 18+ audience (gambling, the naughty stuff and believe it or not some perfectly acceptable dating sites).
  14. Well I hope you left it where it was and allowed a woodland tradition to continue. Those ladies may well be the first ones that a group of boys get to see.
  15. Absolutely no idea, to be honest I didn't know it had been done away with anyway. I wouldn't have thought Ecclestone would have necessarily had a problem with commentary trying to appeal to kids to get them into the sport but I don't think he would like the idea of grown men having fun or perhaps taking the piss.
  16. Not in my world is has.....
  17. I am going to lobby that if its alright for women to be "treated" to topless pictures of channing tatum on the sides of buses, in magazines and no doubt film posters, and if its alright for them to sit and read filthy books that as a man I should be given equal rights with topless women posters in random places and the option to get out a copy of Playboy in a park without any comebacks.
  18. This is a nice idea in theory, and their alternative football coverage did work pretty well as it was fun but I honestly can't see Ecclestone being too pleased at the prospect of alternative commentary where the commentators were inclined to have a bit of fun rather than a serious/sensible approach. It would be good if that happened, but sadly I dont think it ever will.
  19. Your posts are becoming increasingly silly. You are now just arguing for the sake of it, particularly when it comes to people putting across reasonable points in relation to what you say.
  20. I wonder what it would be like to spend a day in Viv's mind. Frustrating I imagine.....
  21. Viv may I remind you that the driver is the one in charge? You might not want to accept this, but the job is stressful, particularly when it involves city center driving and we are only human. We are allowed to have off days and sometimes.
  22. Greg isn't too bad. Grimshaw should be the one who is leaving, his shows are the worst I've heard in a long time.
  23. I think a lot of people are unaware that there are actually limits on what someone has to accept in 1s and 2s. 1p and 2p coins are legal tender only if you are paying for something costing 20p or less: once you have amassed 21 or more 1p pieces, your coins contravene the Coinage Act 1971 if used in a single transaction. While I'm not about to have a go at someone for putting in more than 20p worth of coppers, and a certain someone will no doubt say it doesnt matter and they aren't interested in the limit anyways, it does go to show that people aren't necessarily being unreasonable when complaining about someone giving them loads of loose change.
  24. Can I just clarify I'm not referring to those who come on with 10s, 20s etc. I'm talking about the ones who come on with almost all of it in 1s and 2s. I think a fair amount of those people are at it as they know that not only can I not count it properly once its inside the hopper, but also that I don't have time to because there is a timetable to attempt to keep to (albeit in Edinburgh at the moment thats easier said than done). I actually know someone who waited and counted it all, the person wanted a day ticket but didnt even put in enough for a single. So am I paranoid? I think not. Viv I hate to break this to you but if everyone takes your attitude that its not much to expect change, in your case wanting £1.60 back from a fiver, is it any wonder that sometimes the driver wouldn't have change? It really isn't too unreasonable to suggest going into a bank next time you're near one to ensure you have change. Although I don't have to pay to use the bus, I personally hate not having change in my pocket incase its needed for any number of reasons.
