  1. The one grandma I have left is 98 and mainly speaks Swedish, so I don't think she'd be much use I'm afraid.
  2. Happy 21st Heather! Hope you have some lovely plans for today.
  3. Contribution as one of Santa's little helpers for tomorrow. Where is John by the way? Nice bit of Jose Feliciano for you. There is a version of this by Boney M too if you're interested. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMtuVP8Mj4o?fs=1&hl=en_GB"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMtuVP8Mj4o?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
  4. Sacrilege! Just you wait 'til Mike gets at you too. I might have to give this topic some thought. Hmm. *Nati goes away to ponder*.
  5. Wishing you a belated Happy Birthday Viv.
  6. Yeah, it would, but Timsk's a pretty light sleeper. He woke up last year whilst being papered-up and covered in tinsel.
  7. Is anyone on here taking part in this worthy event? It is an effort on behalf of a charity, whereby blokes have to grow moustaches in order to raise awareness of, and help people who are suffering from prostate cancer. http://uk.movember.com/about/ My lovely Timsk and his NHS colleagues have gone all 'tache-ified' for 30 days (starting last Monday). Almost mistook him for Rufus Hound earlier! Not such a bad thing, I suppose. Bit of stubble burn though. If any of you have a pound or two to donate, it'd be greatly appreciated. http://uk.movember.com/mospace/655798/
  8. Epic rant there Alan. So impressive, I won't even be so pedantic as to correct the numerous spelling/grammatical errors. Unqualified as I am; I do Strictly as opposed to X Factor, I am aware of some of what's going on. I agree with Mr D Haxorz. The material is derivative nonsense. "Tonight Mathew, I'm going to be Cher"! If a singer came on with their own material, that might prick up my ears. I'm also increasingly frustrated by X Factor contestants littering up the charts, when there is so much more 'talent' out there.
  9. Happy Birthday Bumble bee. Cheers!
  10. Yay! http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/tv/3207311/Margaret-Mountford-is-back-with-Lord-Alan-Sugar.html
  11. Only 3? Tricky one this. I agree with almost all of the above esp. Pendulum, Example and Helen's choices. So I'll pop up something different. Pretty mainstream R1 playlist stuff, but I think they are all good. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzE5dS6fnFk Mark Ronson, Bang Bang Bang. I know it's been played to death, but it's a pretty original song. The xx, VCR. Reminds me a bit of The Vevet Underground, who I love. Might just be 2009, If so, I'll go with Crystalised. Cee Lo Green, F*ck You. Another one that's been played to within an inch of its life, but the original (rude) version together with the video is really good. I love this man's voice. Like Magnetic Man and Miike Snow too this year.
  12. This is terribly sad news. To lose a second baby, and furthermore at 6 months must be heartbreaking. My heart goes out to her.
  13. I also forgot to say yesterday that I think this is a very good post, which I wholeheartedly agree with.
  14. Yes. I just think it makes them clearer.
  15. Forgot to mention I really enjoyed The Apprentice on Wednesday. The right person definitely went, but I do feel Melissa was incredibly lucky to get off. She has certainly shown her flaws though. Got a tweet from Lord A of Sugar yesterday, on the subject of Wayne Rooney and chorizo. This made me very happy.
  16. More than 'stupid' even. This item features simply plain stereotypical, patronising attitudes towards students. I don't really understand where R1 are trying to go with it, apart from putting people off going to Uni, as are the current Govt, it seems... PS. I even used to iron my pillow cases at Uni, in between my hangovers and getting an MA!
  17. Discussed this very subject with Emma and Kelly (the ultimate weird crush fanatic) on Twitter quite a while back. I don't think that that many of the crushes are 'weird' personally. All fine figures of men. I decided to go for David Mitchell in the end, purely because he'd be totally mortified to win such an award. Ems felt that Marco Pierre White should have been in the running too.
  18. I agree re. the Boots exclusivity. WTF were they thinking? Their product was a load of crap anyway, so why not hand it on to someone else to develop? Timsk and I just sat and cringed at this huge error in judgement. This is why I was so surprised that the task leader didn't go. It was her incredibly poor call afterall. Mind you, I'd have happily got rid of the others too. Something I really enjoyed about last night's episode was Karen's presence. I was worried about losing Margaret, but as Lord S said, Karen is very different, but she'll bring something good to the programme. I agree. The women on the programme last night behaved like a bunch of harpies, and Karen quite rightly put them in their place. Apropos of nothing, why did none of the women have eyebrows?
  19. Yeah, but I'm 38, so it's slightly more impressive. Oh dear. Timsk is not going to be at all happy about the lack of Star Wars love on this thread. TBH, Arty Dootle and Cee Three Pia the kittyz are a bit miffed too.
  20. eaten a kebab or a pot noodle.
  21. I have a good un. It might be partly in foreign (Spanish). But this version is by an 80s supergroup. Think Rasputin and ra ra! I'll say no more...
  22. Why on earth would one expect Lord Sugar 'of Essex' to speak any differently to the rest of us? I'm pretty certain, given his background, that his language can, on occasion be a great deal more flowery than a simple "Shut up!" These traits don't leave you, no matter how much money you possess/how many titles you've accumulated. When I was a kid I heard Princess Anne utter words I'd never ever heard before out of the window of a horsebox! Absolutely loved the Moyles interview, and the Apprentice show itself. Fantastic entertainment.
  23. Never heard this expression during the 4 years I spent in Glasgow, Looked the phrase up, and really all I could find was a 'pot calling the the kettle black' type ref. Must be localised to Ayrshire. One of the funniest things I heard at Uni was some elderly woman calling my extremely camp, but incredibly drunk mate an "Ugnornant pug"! at a bus stop. Think he might have just chucked up next to her shopping. Fair enough, I suppose.
  24. Wishing you a very Happy Birthday Sophie. Hope you're having a lovely day.
