    I have updates.
  2. I've presented before. Also done travel bulletins in my old job for Free Radio 80s, BBC Reigionals up and down the UK (WM, Lincolnshire, Humberside, Shropshire, Bristol). Even been on talksport in the past, my inbox went a bit barmy for the talksport ones from old friends I hadn't seen in ages asking if it was even me. This was all done from a company that used a team of broadcasters (such as me), equipped with hi tech traffic information at hand. And sold the service to various stations. The sheer ruining of local commercial radio by the likes of Bauer, and the BBC cutbacks put an end to all of that before the first lockdown though. Great job mind, and the people I worked with were all brilliant.
  3. Welcome back! I have an old blueyonder email address that logs me into stuff from 2006. Blueyonder is long gone and so is that email. Think it's still linked to my neglected MySpace that I haven't touched for many years. I don't really do politics publicly, but I hope you are correct on them losing power. However I expect the mainstream media to start peddling the tory narrative soon, in the election buildup. The unthinkable shouldn't happen however nothing surprises me in the UK anymore.
  4. I think Radio 1 will basically just look to fill the gap with whatever is as close as can be, stay quiet about it and see where it goes. And that's the appropriate way to do it imo. As I mentioned in the main thread. When John Peel died in 2004, they put Rob Da Bank into that slot. Not as a replacement, as there couldn't ever be one really. But that fell into place and he was there for a while. The same may happen again, except without Rob Da Bank.
  5. We can celebrate by giving out Jonos debit card pin number. You just have to hunt him down to get it off him and the prize is yours! Seriously though I actually remember logging onto here when I was in 6th form on the computers in the morning about September 2004. I can't still quite get my head around the fact that it was 20 years ago. I never become proper active on here till early 2005 though. I was pissing about with computers at the time recording and stuff (no bbc sounds back then for you whippersnappers), and ended up recording a few celebrity calls for the archives and clipping bits and bobs for here which are still in the archives. I was on here every single day back then, this was our social media for my generation. I was on here saying stuff I look back on at 35 nowdays and cringe at, sometimes I find genius and don't have the same quick brain anymore. Everyday I used to tune into Scott, Chopper and Laura and come onto here to discuss a radio show I almost knew like I was sitting there in the studio with them. Good times. Ive gone on too long. Wheel me back into the care home.
  6. Age wise? Yes. Pete Tong has to be the longest serving DJ for Radio 1 now though.
  7. I remember when Peel died in 2004. I think they put Rob Da Bank onto his slot for a while, it was nothing to say 'here's a replacement'. Was just to basically fill the two hours really and see how it went.
  8. https://dl.sndup.net/jhvc/Mark Radcliffe, Anne Nightingale.mp3 Just recall this with Mark Radcliffe talking to Colin Murray years ago, and him mentioning Annie was one of the only two people who checked on him during his first day at Radio 1.
  9. Very very sad news. There will never be another like Annie, cool and cutting edge from start to finish. Lovely words by Aled too. It really feels like the end of an era there.
  10. Whooooooo!?! Is it one true voice off've popstars the rivals, Mark? Sounds just like her!!!
  11. Chico off've chico time. Not so much whoooo, but shite.
  12. Wasn't that the thing that was supposed to replace Dave Pearce's Dance Anthems on a Sunday, and lasted about 5 shows?

    Sound of 2023

2, 3 and 4 seem to have done pretty well. Cat Burns seems to be the only one who's branched onto other stations mostly though (on Capital, Free...). I've also heard a lot more of pinkpantheress this year, where as last I'd hardly heard of her.
  14. They did that echo/reverb on the mic thing for years. As far back as 2004/05 some old shows of Scott I have you can hear it. Especially with no bed underneath when he was talking to someone on the phone.
  15. I find it strange they wouldn't have a pair of Technics in a 1xtra studio. Considering what it's mostly used for, drum and bass, hip hop etc. With DJ's mixing. Granted I know it's all mostly CDJ's nowdays for that, but usually the setups for DJ's usually have a pair of turntables included. For throwback sets, or DJ's doing something a little different.
  16. I believe they use something called dira. Kind of an in house thing.

    My radio day

Usually jumping between Radio 1 and 2 if I've only got fm. Switch to 2 when something I don't like is on Radio 1, vice versa when they start saying how great the 80s are on Radio 2 and play Jimmy Nail or sommat. In my car I have dab. So kisstory, Radio X and Absolute. Plus WCR, a local station where I am in wolves. Usually make a good effort for Scott when he's on.

I'd be shocked if they ever worked together again but you never know, a podcast would be great tbh! It works so well for Scott and Chris and could do for these. How did this get into a thread anyway? Sure I posted it in the shout box thingy.
  19. Aren't Busted still tangled with Mcfly via their ballbag or is it 2003 again?

My heart. The lads look just as they did in 2000!
  21. Maureen Rees off've Driving School in 1997.
  22. 08700 100 100 Anyone tried to ring it since 2010?
  23. I can see that, but it depends if there's anyone left alive to moan. People are living longer now. It won't happen but there needs to be a 'Radio 3' that rivals smooth, playing everything pre 1990. Radio 2 has too much of an age range on it's plate.
