  1. Of all the times not mention capital it's probably now? Jordan is flying on breakfast with chris & sian and there's a presenter on friday and saturday that doesn't know who a main r1 artist, tldp are. Mentions capital which surely has to be a big no no given recent events and then says the licence fee goes to me. Talk about vom. We can't have it on here no more as it's that unlistenable and I'm about to switch back for m&m, but this is a Maya Jama x50 level mess of a show. Forget fading the microphone down, the entire show needs fading down

    Arielle Free's wedding

Unless people can provide a source for this information then it should be treated as false. Why would Jordan sign a contract with the BBC in the autumn when he agreed a deal with Global? He could have left in August and not had to deal with the BBC. Vick who doesn't really like Global why would she recommend him to go there and then warn him in her post to be careful? It's been whispered from October that Roman was thinking of going. Roman and Jordan have the same management team. Why would they put Jordan in a place where he would have to battle with the BBC. They could have agreed a deal with Global for Jordan in the summer. They might have had to pay first couple months but they would do they to secure him. If they had known about Roman wanting to leave they could have paid Roman off to get Jordan on air quicker. Global would also not had legal around BBC contract to deal with and would not have had to pay the BBC to release Jordan. None of what people say makes sense and if it did happen the way people say then BBC are not the stupid ones. It really is not a good look to be talking with Global for 6 months, to then sign a contract with a the BBC, continue to talk to Global behind BBC's back after signing and then couple of months later want to leave and to throw a hissy fit as the BBC are not giving you what you want when you want it. That not a good light for Jordan or his management.

    Ask Chris and Jordan

Capital Radio's breakfast presenters have been really chuffed with the lovely comments you've left about the programme, and they want to give something back. So next week they've offered to come on the forums and answer some of your questions. Get your thinking caps on and post your questions for Chris and Jordan here. And who knows, they might rope Sian into it too. They'll have the licence to answer what they want, and I'm sure you have plenty of questions!

    Danny Beard's Radio 1 show

What a nightmare link at 11.15am this morning. Spent 30 seconds waffling about the name of The Last Dinner Party as if he’d never heard it before, then started mentioning Capital and the license fee, and how it’s been used to pay for him to be there, and was then cut off by the start of the next song.

  9. Got to admit I only heard a bit of it tonight whilst driving but I loved it! Will definitely be listening back to this one and in future. Just what Thursday nights needed!

  10. It's got more of a Fri/ Sat feeling to it, for me. But there's nothing inherently wrong with the show.

    Distracting DJs

Not sure what it really means, but Scott Mills is one of the least distracting DJs according to new research. https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/cars/article-13283609/Most-distracting-radio-podcast-hosts-driving-revealed-Mark-Wright-Chris-Evans-list.html It says Radio 1 though, which is not only inaccurate, but also I can only imagine it applying to his Radio 2 show. How many sounds effects did he used to play on Radio 1, ha.

    The Radio 1 Playlist

The playlist has definitely got a bit narrower this year, it feels like. Artists like Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, Drake and Doja Cat seem to be played in every show, even when they’re not on the playlist. Other artists who get a few plays a week, such as Niall Horan, always seem to have the same song played, in his case, Heaven. Whenever they dive into Calvin Harris’ backlog it always seems to be Slide and Promises pulled out, even though they’re two of his least upbeat songs. Most songs they play seem to have been from the 2020s, instead of throwing in a few older hits like Capital does, which is something I think they could do.

    Jack Saunders' new show

Yes, good on you doing your own music blog website. I get that point with the 100% all new music can be alienating but think thats more if the station were to do more totally new bands and artists the thing that new music shows that preceded Jack have always have reflected big artists national and international who have been around for a while be that few years to a decade or two whether playing new stuff from artists to Dua Lipa, Coldplay or Nia Archives. I find its bizarre how music curation has changed a lot in the last decade as what I like of what radio can do well is that ability to hear an audible description of a new artist and information about their music with sense of opinion and thought from the presenter and an interview with the switch to sound features and spotify playlists. It’s not that same magazine effect that Steve Lamarq and Jo Whiley could be an audible magazine show like the NME to Zane Lowe’s radio 1 show complimenting Gonzo which Saunders has revived for MTV

    Jack Saunders' new show

I think that's a good move. Get some of the best hits from under your belt to ease people in. Very Zane Lowe-esque.

  15. I hate to be that guy but we all know the Greggs thing was pre arranged days if not weeks in advance? It wasn't a spare of the moment thing by Chris and the convo about it was pre panned and not in the moment thing. It was an ad deal. One big ad for Greggs which they paid Capital for. This is why radio should state Product Placement just like TV. Radio 1 can't do these things for a reason. For me this what makes the show sound fake because it's a false thing pretending it all happened over night. Greggs would have to order on extra stuff to make it happen. You can't do that in 24 hrs. There will be more of these deals. I bet there will be a few Gregg "surprise" things happen over time. Other brands as well.

  16. Off topic, because not really relating to Jordan’s show specifically, but one thing that struck me when I was listening back today is the words they cut out of songs on R1 that they don’t on Capital. The word ‘kill’ is cut out of all of Kill Bill by SZA on R1, not on Capital.

    5 Live turns 30

I feel that Dotun Adebayo and his nighttime show doesn't get enough credit. I mean he's doing graveyard slot 5 days a week - I don't understand how he's functioning as a person! And his presentation style is unique, he makes the show sound like he's speaking only to you. I love to listen to it when I can't sleep.

  19. It’s more like the pre-2023 long intro of R1 Breakfast - I also prefer that version over the short version they’re currently using.

  21. It's more engaging than I imagined Capital breakfast to be. Like others said, I haven't heard Roman much to compare it. It sounds like Sian and Chris have more leadership on air.

    BBC needs more Scott

There a reason commercial radio don't want the BBC to launch new stations. It would allow Radio 2 to split making a older station and develop the current Radio 2 more for our generation. It would make Radio 2 very appealing which is not what they want. I hope the BBC wins because we need more radio for us.
